When politicians work against public opinion and damage or countries, At what point should we start to hold them Accountable?

Australia is over crowded making life hard for everyone, Food prices and rent is through the roof. Dispite the large population increase in the last 2 decades. Politicians are talking about big immigration increases still while considering getting us to eat bugs soon due to meat shortages. Will the politicians have bugs on there plates. At what point should these Ass holes be held accountable? Will you accept the ""we are all in this together and a witch hunt serves nobody"" like cope out excuses?

You hold them accountable at the ballot box. The problem is voter turn out is usually low and most people are overly loyal to one party.

Another problem is people are idiots and need to be controlled, you can't run a country on populist opinions.

They claim it's a democracy but you only vote for representatives. you are partly right. That is a very good answer. But Voter turn out in Australia would be higher due to the fact that you get fined for not voting here. They want to implement a code of conduct into the senate and ban people with certain opinions that are still very popular here. Media and internet censorship are real things here that restrict and miss inform the public which we need to make informed decisions at the polls.
We like so many countries are being manipulated so when they run the country into the ground like they have on top of those things I believe that they need to be held accountable.
