Someone told me that they are teaching Spanish to American kids here in America although the American kids speak fluent American because they are born in America. Was this homie simply trippin? Or are they seriously teaching American teens Spanish now?
1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Since America has no "official" language - check the dictionary, the language you're trying to use is "English", not "American" - the default is English simply because most of the colonies reported to the British Crown originally.
There are areas where the dominant language isn't English but Spanish or French.
Maybe go read about your country's development?04 Reply- +1 y
American is a refined version of English. We say "hey homie, let's get a drink" which is derived from the English "bullocks let's go to the fuuucking puuub and have a pint bullocks "
And yes it has always been the language of America which was indeed founded mostly by British that you understood correctly - +1 y
Actually most of the South Western States were originally Spanish speaking. Why else would it be "Los Angeles", "San Francisco", "San Andreas", etc? Those cities and others are Spanish names. Even Texas is massively influenced by Spanish settlers and joined the union with a majority Spanish speaking population.
And American is "refined" English? The average American university student now has the vocabulary of a primary school child from 19th century American society. That's probably why Mark Twain books are being removed from required reading lists in the USA. It has nothing to do with the language he used when writing being "offensive" today and everything to do with the constant dumbing down to the lowest denominator of a language you have no insight into the origins of. If you did you'd understand why it's "honour" not "honor", and how to pronounce "tomato".

@Bratsondanielle Mine was better. 😝 (No offense, @Sixgunsound. LOL)

@Jamie05rhs well I know a lot of kids but they only speak American. They are American kids here in America 🇺🇸 greatest country in the world 🌎 so speaking anything else than American is just silly. Everyone from any civilized country is almost always fluent in English anyway. I went to fu... ing Tokyo (great city!! Great!! Wonderful people!!) And 9 out of 10 were almost fluent

@Bratsondanielle That's because you live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. Lolol. (No offense.)
- +1 y
Why is no offense one of the most commonly used phrases in this day and age? If you’re saying something offensive, say it like you mean it! If you’re trying not to offend someone, just don’t see it. I get it I won because there was a whole Lotta competition. That’s cool, and I’ll see what I can do about having a quality post next time. I just wish people in general not anybody in particular would just acknowledge their offense related intentions and not try to make excuses.

@Sixgunsound LOL. That's just what I say to my friends when I'm ragging them.

It's perfectly fine. Im perfectly happy here in "bumfuck nowhere" and if that is indeed the reason I don't have to learn 17 different languages, then I just like it even more.
I will say, however, I grew up in Baton Rouge, and I don't know if that qualifies as "bumfuck nowhere" but also there it seems perfectly fine to speak English as the only thing. New Orleans too. I went to Japan and got by 4 weeks using English exclusively. It seems like the language of choice. Just because Biden is letting a few million illegal aliens flood across the border doesn't seem to me at least to be a reason for those of us who were already here to have to learn other languages - +1 y
Remember when W tried to make English the official language of the United States and the party that relies on foreign people to register to vote in US elections destroyed it?
- +1 y
English IS the language of the United States thou. The vast majority of Americans speak American. The immigrants I know who came in on visas (as opposed to the Biden-portal down south) all speak English. They go to interviews at American embassies and it's American embassy workers (or whatever) that conduct the interview

+1 yThey were always teaching Spanish, they're just extremely horrible at teaching ANY language at all. 99% of the students placed in Spanish classes will probably be Latinos or Hispanics.

+1 yGiven that Spanish is a major American language it's ridiculous not to teach kids it.

Some crazy people might argue that American (a refined form of British) was the major American language, since the people who founded the country were mostly from Britain
- +1 y
Many argue it should be considered Americas first language
- +1 y
That would be American

@Fuentes well there will always be insane people roaming the streets. In London the Muslim men have established their own "police" and the women walk around inside cloth bags with a peephole. The "muslim patrol" as they call it make sure British girls are dressed appropriately when entering the "Muslim area" (of the British city London) and when i point this out the dumbest people always say no no cap cap chill Danny it ain't true:. So go to YouTube and search "muslim patrol london"

Actually there's at least 10 indigenous British languages and the most common foreign one is Polish not urdu

In Britain the language is British (or as you pronounce it: brii'ish)

Actually America only has influence because of it's size. If you go by population ratio you're as influential as an Eskimo village

Lol cause it's a clutter of abuncha small countries that's why Germany had no issue slapping them around twice & now they all banned together to Show Russia they're not afraid & that makes sense I would see nothing but people in the UK walking in every tv show and a lack of vehicles in the movies lol inalways thought it was just for show hahaha

If I lived in America I wouldn't risk being too tanned
- +1 y
Lol aahahha that's 200 years ago turdbrain. Now it's a really really small percentage of the population who care. And are we all obese? So I'm obese? I think you should go on vacation in the USA some day. You might have your prejudices trimmed a bit. Remember to drive on the right thou lol
