My 5 year old son gets into moods where he’ll do the opposite of whatever I tell him to. All I have to do then is tell him the opposite. If he won’t eat his dinner, I’ll tell him not to eat his dinner and he’ll eat it. If he doesn’t want to go to bed, I’ll tell him that he’s not allowed to go to bed yet. It works every time.

I was the same as a kid, it’s genetic. It probably won’t go away, but I don’t litter or do pointless things just to be a dick.

If anything I’d say that it’s a similar mindset to your question here. It becomes that way, anti-authoritarian.

There was a time when I thought that way. “If you tell me not to jump off a cliff I’ll jump” kind of thing. But again, coming from an anti-authoritarian mindset, that’s how a lot of people are easily fooled into doing things which the people in charge want them to do, while thinking that they’re somehow rebelling against authority. For example most liberals, their interests align with the media, big tech, big government, big pharma and the financial elite, yet somehow they still think that they’re anti-establishment.

In most cases they turn out to have very similar personality traits and life outcomes despite having been raised by different people.

People under-estimate the influence of genetics since we’ve mostly been taught the blank slate theory, the idea that almost everything is socially conditioned.

You’re making some silly assumptions, my kids weren’t formula fed, kept in a crib all day, or abused in any way. They’re happy. Kids just get into silly moods no matter what. Do you have kids yourself?
