Should anyone who wants to Vote also be required to sign up for Selective Services?

Back in the old days it was actaully a requirement to be signed up with Selective Services until age 36 to vote.

Better off getting rid of the draft all together. It's been a liability more then an asset after the world wars. Even our basic recruiting process is draining funds.

With how obesity is more common recruits are breaking their knees and ankles during basic training. Of course the military is paying for the surgery for these guys and that is expensive. Required service is going to bleed the country dry with only people in wheelchairs and a rifle as the national guard let alone an actual war zone.

Maybe being more selective is more effective then required service.

40+ years ago, sure. But military technology is so advanced now that we're never going to need a huge draft - short of the country being invaded. And if the country got invaded, i'd rather everybody was a volunteer. Don't want some a-zhole traitor to get a gun and get to stand next to me when I'm sleeping in a war zone.

Government sucks because most of the people in the country suck & it's a reflection of them and how they were raised. So over time things get worse and the speed of decline is getting faster.

And no, the thirteenth amendment should apply to EVERYONE, not just private owners. Nationalized slavery is no more moral than its private counterpart.

All males 18 have to sign up for selective service in the US.

Right now it's just men. There was a bill out before House last year to force women. It failed.

I thought it was still a thing. As in signing up for a potential draft.
