I personally live in Florida which is traditionally a swing state, but I don't care about red or blue states. I just care that the city is big and vibrant.
I have lived in both Red and Blue and maybe one or two swing states... If you consider Virginia and North Carolina swing states. I mean in Virginia and North Carolina there are some serious red parts, but they can go either way in National Elections. I guess Virginia is more Blue now days because of the huge cities a long the coast. But if you get into the Shenandoah Valley or Blue Ridge Mountains its pretty RED.
Actually it doesn't matter... Blue states tend to be more complicated and expensive to live in. Red States have lower costs of living but honestly who wants to live in a blue state.
Texas and Florida keeps growing like it is they will turn blue soon. Florida used be a great low cost no tax tax state for retirees... so that kept it Red for a long time. But the cost of living is going up and its less and less attractive to retirees now because real estate cost are going up. Texas is going Blue, because lots of people are moving out of Blue States and going to Texas. For jobs and low cost of living... but then the cost of living is going up there now and people are turning it blue.
Blue states tend to be more expensive because they tend to look prettier, offer better services and offer a better night life which causes a lot of money to enjoy.
Like San Diego, L. A. Chicago, Miami and New York city has everything one can desire from shops, restaurants and entertainment.
Agreed! And all the revenue goes toward the taxes to pay for all the other states that nobody wants to live in. The highest tax deffered states in the US are;
West Virginia, New Mexico, Mississippi, Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Wyoming and Montana. Those are the top 10 states that get the most Federal Funding in comparison to the tax revenue they contribute. They all receive on $2 to $1 dollar more in Federal Funding more then they pay in taxes per capita, these are most Dependent states on Fed funding and they are All Deep RED states that cry about taxes. Except maybe Maine and New Mexico... they flip flop.
The states that generate the most Federal Tax revenue but get the least back in federal funding are..
Minnesota, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kansas, Washington, Nebraska, California.
California is like #40 but that is because here we have a lot of military bases, and National Parks so we got funding that way from the Fed. I was surprised to see Kansas and Nebraska, but that is because they have low populations and a lot of open farm land, on this list. but most the others are solid blue states.
There is not really any such thing as a blue state or red state. This concept seriously distorts things. There are not many states that have more than about a 60-40 split.
People who talk about red and blues states are vastly oversimplifying things. A state's politics will affect me in choosing a state, but it sure won't be a decisive issue.
To make it worse, people usually think of red and blue states during presidential elections. Very often this is very different than governors and state legislatures. My state for example is the most representative state in the country when it comes to presidential elections. So for presidential elections it's the swingingest swing state there is (yea I made up a word). But internally we lean Republican.
I would rather pay a bit more to have less trashy parts in my state which get more neglected or similar housing communities with no variety. Like I went out driving today and came across a community with huge houses that all look the same, are basically right next to each other with no yard space or space in between the houses. If it’s not that it’s Amazon warehouses. If it’s not that it’s farm land. There’s a lot of crime here and it’s just getting worse with the laws and stuff changing like they are at least we have abortion here still though I can see that going out the window at any given moment.

Indiana. Like yea there are other states that are a lot worse but considering I’ve never really left the state besides to live in Texas for a summer it’s not worth it here or Texas

many red states are banning abortions all together and will likely TRY and ban plan b AND birth control in their states. many blue states have rampid and violent criminals loose (I would know- I live in San Francisco its a big crazy mess here). Sooooooooo I would have to say purple state!

Red. That is why I plan to leave CA in summer 2023. High taxes, high crime, lots of racism against Whites when hiring, especially in the school system, sexism against men, higher prices on most things, they want to outlaw gas cars and tools, they want to force the covid vaccine if it ever gets full FDA approval in order to work or attend school in person. The only reasons I stayed here was because my mom and a few good friends are here, but I have had enough. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in a place like this.

Purple. DEFINITELY purple. I came to Florida after three decades in Illinois, and the difference in not being a one-party state is night and day. It felt BIZARRE realizing Floridians don't feel deep, soul-sucking dread upon realizing they have to go to nhe DMV.
When companies compete, the public benefits, as there's incentive to improve. That very much applies to political parties, too.
I'm a Democrat so whatever state that would be! But actually give me a cruise ship and not the type on water the type that goes into outer space kind of like on Star Trek and let me make up my own rules and regulations or give me my own personal Island so I can be the king

Depends on what you mean and how you calculate "Poor". For example, if people make little money but costs are high, that's one thing. If people make a lot of money and the costs are high, that's another thing. Then there's the range and diversity factor. Do the people make a very diverse amount of money or do they all have a somewhat similar income? Then there's how the population is spread. Does the state have a lot of big cities, or is it made mostly of towns? There are a lot of factors that come into play. States with a greater amount of small communities or towns tend to be red. They have friendlier people and neighborhoods. And vise versa for blue states.
Red state, Red states are run better they have less crime and there not stupid like democrats run states. Unfortunately I’m living in a deep blue state know as Washington

Thats often because blue states tax their people to death. I live in California and Governor Newsom taxes us into OBLIVION. I believe its 10% sales tax on everything you buy. Don't bother online shopping... there is a large tax for that too. All sorts of non-sense taxes. They give millions of our tax money to support health care of illegal immigrants... among a million other things, which really isn't fair. I know they contribute to the economy, but the amount they usually make doesn't equate to how much the tax payer pays out in taxes to support them and their families here. Its not right.
@Lynn7dsd Well, that's true about the immigrants, and I do know California is really put through the ringer and even I don't support Newson and think he's doing a terrible job, but red states in general are even worse. States like W. Virginia, Arkansas, and Tennessee literally have no job market, very low wages, and poverty to the point that so many people are on drugs - W. Virginia is known for that. In the poor parts of Georgia people would literally have to travel miles just to get to a decent grocery store.
Red states are more concerned about gun rights and abortion than actually trying to take care of their people. They won't introduce anything new and don't give a damn about fixing up their broken down areas.
You also have Blue states lying about crimes. There are many more unreported crimes. Rape is charged as assaults. Murders down graded to man slaughter. You can't go by reports.

The reality is out of the top 10 most crime states in red states are 4 to blue 6 if I remember correctly according to data. So it's about half spilt as a nation.
@ManOnFire: I don't see a link. And another thing with the exception of Texas red states are mostly small and with a small population so naturally their crime rates are going to be less than blue states which are bigger with a bigger population.

I don't care if they're red or blue or pink or purple or chartreuse. Are you happy living in your state or your city. That's what matters. I do not like states or cities that take up and give funding away without working for what you receive. That's how it should be. Should be able to work service hours for what you receive.

Red states or blue states mostly always have a Republican governor like Texas or Democrat governor like California except with exception once in a while.

Florida last 4 governors including DeSantis have been Republican, it's going to change eventually because history of the state says so.

My state has corn and nothing more it’s just boring here like the most interesting thing I’ve seen is the countryside in my state which ain’t much to be honest and with the amount of warehouses popping up I have little hope for it here
