For the past month ever since republicans got their victory in the supreme court, they have been paraded themselves as abortion being a states rights issue. However, now that the majority are against them even in states where abortion is illegal, they want to propose a national abortion ban just like when slave holders lost slavery as a states rights issue, they made taking in refugee slaves a crime.

Lindsay Graham appears to be deliberately sabotaging the Republicans, because he knows damn well that all three branches of government will shoot it down. He has also never been a serious pro-life candidate, and this appears to have been coordinated with several Democrats to energize their voting bases against "MAGA" candidates, which is interesting rhetoric considering Graham is pretty much on par with Mitt Romney as a never-Trump Republican.

Graham only cares about profiteering off of wars and keeping business taxes low, and is otherwise perfectly happy being a fake opposition leader who can say or do whatever he needs to get re-elected without having to actually follow through, a common trend with the Republican establishment.

Votes. The only way the ban could happen is that they have a large enough majority in Congress and a president who would support this. Even if they happen to take control of both chambers of Congress they won't have a 2/3 majority that is necessary to overturn POTUS veto power. As long as there isn't a harline anti women's rights POTUS, the bill will never pass. If they wanted this, the best chance they had was when Trump was POTUS.

I agree and with trump dealing with his mar la go raid; I doubt he would be supported as the party candidate, but I have no doubt they will elect someone worse.

Because Lyndsey Graham is an opportunist with no moral basis who sticks his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. He knows it will tossed out at District Court level, ironically with Dobbs as the precedent, but he is trying to earn brownie points with the Falwellian Wing of the GOP.

He is example #1 of why I despise most the GOP as much as I do most of the DNC. Both are enamored of expanding federal power instead of having the federal government stick to its enumerated powers and letting most things be decided statewide or locally. This consolidation of power in D. C. is what causes so much of the venom in politics.

I consider myself fairly pro life. I also think that it should be a state issue. Someone from California shouldn't be able to dictate how I live and vice versa.

I believe that states should have autonomy to decide issues that do not go against the Constitution and are not international issues. You should be able to shape the type of place you want to live in. The way I want to live is not the way how someone from California wants to live, so our state's laws should reflect that. Don't like your state's laws? Then you can move somewhere that you do after with. 50 states and 2 territories is a lot of options.

Actually you can't really move where you want all the time. There's this guy in Michigan who wants to live in Arizona, but he can't. He's covered under Medicaid. Medicaid in Michigan covers what he needs, it doesn't in Arizona. He can't live where he wishes

I've moved over a dozen times. There is always a give and take. There are probably plenty of options for the guy in Arizona, he just likes the Medicaid in Michigan. But if he doesn't want to move, then he needs to expect to live with certain laws that the majority of people in Michigan want. If it means that much to him, he would move and figure out the different options in Arizona.

If he's on Medicaid, then he really can't afford other options. Nobody chooses it.

I've had cancer and chronic thyroid issues, my sister has chronic pain, my mother has chronic thyroid issues, my dad has a bum leg. We did our research and found options in the States we live. My states laws are less forgiving than Arizona (Kansas), but I put in the time and effort to research medical opportunities and insurance deals. If he is too lazy to do that, it is his problem, not the people around him.

You think he hasn't looked? He's been trying to find out how to move to Arizona for a while. Read Fragmented Democracy by Jamilia Michener. If you've never been on Medicaid, you wouldn't really get it. For example, PT is only covered under Medicaid here if you are blind or pregnant.

No, I've just been without a job, without insurance, and without family nearby while I had cancer. But I still managed to find a medical plan that paid for all but 10k of my ~1 million medical bills and PT services from a place an hour away that supports lower income people. Sorry I can't relate to that specifically.

I am glad you made it ok but there are millions of other people who can't climb out of their situations, I used too but I still struggle and many shouldn't have to struggle.
