Good policy in that it keeps people, including police, safer

If the cops were not allowed to chase people then there would be no deterrent to crime. Things would get even worse than they are now

There IS a deterrent. They shoot a GPS tracker, and it sticks to your car, and later on, they find and arrest you and you go to jail. Nobody including cops gets killed or maimed in a high-speed chase.

Many police departments instituted a 'no pursuit' policy many years ago.

This is old news. Many agencies have been terminated pursuits on spot for years.

See back in the good days you'd expect the police to do the job but when they fail to do that it falls to the citizens to fight back and become vigilantes
