Feminism is the idea that women are free when they serve their employers but slaves when they serve their husband and children. Agree or disagree?

Yes, I agree but maybe not the way you think I'll agree...
Married women have companies almost bend over backwards for them to make work/life balance changes for them and they can also freely walk away from a job at any time.
Married women have to go through a divorce process in order to walk away from a marriage (I'd argue they have far more power than men in most situations in divorce courts).
You are supposed to be locked into a marriage but not a job. One you can just leave within the minute you decide you want to leave and the other requires sometimes years to actually fully walk away from.
My argument is this: Married women and married men are both slaves to each other, but are free when they work for a company/free to quit at any time.
I disagree with this perspective on feminism.
This anecdote wrongly equates a career to servitude or slavery. Employers provide potential benefits such as healthcare, pensions, or insurance. Employers provide compensation for labor. Employers enforce anti-discrimination laws and protections. Marriages do not. Husbands do not. Careers enable women independence from dependent relationships with men. Relationships that very well could evolve into the women acting as the maid and sole caregiver to the family. With a career in her pocket, women can work to live as employees rather than living to work as a mother or a wife. Feminism is the idea that in relationships, men and women can be equal partners. This quote compares apples to oranges and again, I disagree with this statement’s premise.
In a good society everything you claim the employer to do is actually supposed to be done by the husband. if he fails to do so he's a bad husband. It is the husband's job to protect and take care of his wife and make sure she has everything needed when she's expecting children. Your boss won't care if you die, your replacement would be hired a month later. A good husband would grief for the rest of his life over your death.
And a job won't protect you once the economy is dead and money has no worth. You don't actually have choice if you want a relationship or not, you only have the delusion of choice.
@RiseofArtemis I think that the society you are describing is depressing. If men are constantly taking on the role of provider and protector, when does he have time to be a partner?
The sum of a woman is more than their uterus. In reality- not the “good society” you imagine of indentured demure war brides- let’s replace the word husband with the word employer. I don’t have to have my employer’s children. I don’t have to raise my employer’s children. I don’t have to put my employer’s physical or emotional needs before my own. I am free to switch employers without legal consequence (assuming there is no breach of contract.)
In the society I live in, women can provide for themselves. Women can and do choose for themselves. Romantic relationships can be partnerships where women and men take care of themselves and each other. They don’t need to submit to a relationship with a man. They can build a relationship with a man.
I also find it amusing that you bring up an apocalyptic scenario. Who would my “good husband” be protecting me from? Other women’s “good husbands?” I think the only delusion proposed here is your idea of gendered altruism.
Have you ever heard of past life that means. No Economy, No Money just survival and no government. If you know how it is to live on a farm you'd know how dusional your way of thinking is.
Men used to only rely on their own ability to provide and protect the women they cared about. Men protect you from other attackers like the current imigrants would be. We live currently in a society that is too good for people to live in and it will be destroyed by our own delusion. You will have to cling to man soon in order to survive because no government will take care of you as there will be none. Dark times are ahead.
@RiseofArtemis? Past lives? You should write fanfiction. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers, friend. Something tells me that if the world fell into the Hell you describe here, you would be the one clinging to a man for support.
And what now about farm life? Should I call the police? What did you do on that farm?
Only if they’re serving the wrong man. If you marry a good man, he’ll happily serve you. And your career should be paying you so either way you should be getting a clear and satisfying return on your investment. If you aren’t then you’ve made the wrong choice, so in general I disagree with the statement.
Why would he be the "wrong" man if you chose to marry him? Marriage isn't an instantaneous thing, it takes many months to prepare. Why marry if you have even a shred of doubt that he's not the right one?
So you're saying marriage to you is like a business deal, otherwise you wouldn't expect an ROI. Does this mean all women charge men for sex and does it make all women prostitues?
@apimpnamedslickback What a stretch. You know exactly what she means by not a good man and ROI. You purposely misunderstood to extrapolate her point to the utmost extreme to call all women prostitutes. And why sex? Is that all women can provide in a relationship? Come on. You're smarter than that. I'm onto you.
Marriage and relationships in general are a give and take. While you shouldn’t be keeping a detailed scorecard of who’s doing what and when, you should still understand and be aware if you’re giving and giving but your partner isn’t appreciative or isn’t doing what they can to give to you as well.
Somewhat, yes. I think modern feminism has tricked women into thinking that a career is the only meaningful thing they can get out of life.
Putting marriage and children in the background, or even painting it as servitude to a husband. This in turn has led to more single parents than ever before, broken families. Frustrated women who find out that a career won't take care of you when you're in your 40s, single and you get ill, and it won't keep you company on lonely nights.
And children are suffering as a result. They need a stable home, and both parents. Raising a family isn't a terrible thing, it's possibly the best thing you'll ever do.

That's stupid as fuck.
Firstly "feminism" isn't a monolith. it means something different to a French women, to a Japanese, Arab or British one.
The laws and cultures of each are different, as was their suffrage. Hence what they are looking for is very different too.
For example, American women are legally allowed to paid less than men for doing the same job. But under Arab laws this is illegal. The American feminist activists are therefore active in ensuring fair pay for women, where Arab activists do not need to.
I don't know what feminism is anymore... they want to abort babies that are already born and think men can get pregnant. A tax for not getting married? I think it's the example of a group that had a purpose and achieved that original goal... but in order for the group to no longer be needed... they simply just keep coming up with shit to fight... no matter how stupid it sounds.
If that isn't true then why do feminists talk about dismantling gender roles? They claim that traditional gender roles are oppressive because it forces women to be only homemakers, effectively trapping them in the house, but that was never the case.
We don't live in that world, women have more options than they have ever had but beyond that, men tend to be supportive of the women they love regardless of what their choices are and will try to make it work.
Men here are obsessed with feminism. lmao
But to answer your question, it depends on the feminist. I'm a radical feminist (socialist), so I think women are slaves to both in our society. :)
"Feminism" is simply a contraction of "female chauvinism". That's why feminists get offended when you treat them equal to men. They don't want to be equal, they want to be above, so to be held responsible, accountable, and given respect only in measure to their accomplishments is an affront.
So everyone male or female with a job is a slave? I don't think so
I love this 🤣🤣🤣
Let the shit show begin!!!
I'm gay so women are equal to me and always will be.
Simplistic. While there are extremists in nearly every movement (Clementine Ford, for example), feminism is really about equality under the law.
Workplace vs a Home its not the same. If you treat them as a submissive in a home its slavery, if you treat them as an equal it's a home.
The most recent variations probably. I thought the original was simply just the desire for true equality
Not true. True feminism is the belief that women are equal to men at work and at home.
Nope. Feminism is equality between men and women.
Not anymore it isn't
You do realize only men who served could vote at the start which means not all men could vote.
You forgot to add man-hating and fetus-killing.
No, that's not feminism.
Then why do so many self-proclaimed feminists say they hate the idea of marriage then go and so it anyway? Your husband is supposed to be your best friend yet you treat marriage like a business transaction. And your children... even if your husband isn't who you thought he was, your children are innocent and still need a parental figure in their lives. No one fills that gap better than the mother and father. You both committed to the ride, now ride.
No. Try reading the definition.
Right because the definition is being well put into practice by self-proclaimed feminists these days. No feminists only want to be man-haters, whiners, complainers, spewing the most vial of shit out of their mouths. They only want positions of power, they want more representation in white color jobs but never hear them talking about wanting to do the hard, physically intensive jobs like bricklaying and working on an oil rig. It was never about equality, its about desire for power and whining until you get your way.
I don't need to when they've made their intentions loud and clear. Feminism has turned into a brain cancer.
You don't get paid, to be a mother...
Disagree where's the love
