These people in the comments all make me so bad, none of them seem to fully get the importance of feminism. Since the beginning of civilization there had been a trend toward patriarchy, where men hold power over men. Men somehow decided hundreds of thousands of years ago that they were to be the breadwinners, the providers, the builders, the "dominant" sex. This is bullshit. Yes, men in a scientific sense are typically stronger, okay, I'll give them that. But women on the other hand have the EXACT same intellectual potential as men, higher pain tolerance, and have the ability to give life. Now I 100% believe men and women should be equals, but from these facts women sound like they should be the dominant sex, shouldn't they? For thousands of years men have fought for supremacy to preserve their testosterone driven egos, pushing women aside in the process. The argument that men have been the "builders" and have been the formers of society and therefore of course they're dominant is ridiculous, the reason men have always had more power is because for the most part women were not able to gain power in society (im not speaking current day, I'm speaking 50 years ago and further back). It is not women weren't capable, they weren't allowed to gain power in society. Proof women are capable of running society is the matriarchal societies of Ancient Greece, Native American tribes, and across ancient asia. Even today matriarchy still exists in modern societies, but not in the Middle East or north Eastern hemisphere. This is because a way of life is so embedded here in America, "the perfect family" where men and women have specific roles. Feminism is SO important as it promotes giving ALL PEOPLE the freedom to be each other equals. I'm sick of hearing men and women alike saying feminism is "dumb" or "pussy bullshit" it is an incredibly important part of our history as a mankind, and it runs so much deeper than you think, and your all just going to have to accept that.

I-uh-I... Don't really know. But, can I say 'no'? Oh yes, of course, I can, that's my right to give an opinion, especially on this site, when someone asks about my view.

I am a woman and I think that feminism is far 'too much'. It makes me sick that people seem to discriminate another gender just to lift the other one.

I HATE violations toward women, I HATE when women are getting abused, used, raped, not allowed to have better educations and be smart, but why should say to the world that men are useless just to make women 'lifted up' and despise men? That's crazy!

Why don't we just force the world to make women live better without disdaining man, everybody?

In my view, my culture's point of view, and my religion's point of view, generally, men and women are just the same. Okay, maybe mostly not equal in the same things. Men are good at woodworking where most of the women are not. But on the other side, most men are worst in raising babies where women good at. Feminists can't just forget the fact that men are women are designed to be 'together', to be generally equal, to love each other, and to respect each other.

It's foolish if they kick men just to make women be the first. In fact, between women and men, no one is superior. Both are in the 'equal strength', thought the 'field' is different on men and women. Just admit it!

Men: Your wives give birth to your baby and hug you when you are sad! Respect her and love her!

Women: Your husbands work day by day to buy you new clothes every month and kiss you when you cry! Respect him and love him!

By understanding that no one shouldn't disdain another, this world will be a peaceful place. STOP HATING!

i'm an egalitarian~ i understand why feminism (the original definition) is needed, but enough with the misandry already.

back in the 60s and 70s, feminism meant something. but modern-day "feminism" has completely veered from its original aim and is basically man-hating.

i don't hate men, and i have several incredible ones in my life (my husband, my dad, and my grandfather, plus many others). i speak out for both men's and women's rights, and i'm well aware that one asshat doesn't represent his or her gender.

I think third wave feminism is a joke.
The first and second waves had legitimate concerns to address and made real progress.
Today, third wave feminism just complains because they can complain. Wow you can't go topless in public? boo hoo wow u have it sooooo bad!!!

Proof that feminism is a lie and the biggest con job in the history of mankind:

#1: Everything upon the earth was built by men. There’s not a single, substantial structure on the earth primarily built by women.

#2: It was men that were trafficked, exploited, used, manipulated, brainwashed and disposed of in all the wars for the advancement of women and the state.

#3: Men have always been primarily responsible for working the most dirty, most dangerous, most life shortening, most back breaking jobs, for the advancement of women and the state.

#4: Women demand quotas only in the most prestigious, most powerful, most lucrative positions and didn’t demand their place in employment until after men made work relatively safe, broken nail free and mussed hair proof.

#5: Men pay the majority of taxes, but the vast majority of spending on healthcare, welfare and education is spent at the state and federal level on women.

#6: The vast majority of alimony, asset division and child support flows from men to women.

#7: Trillions in wealth and power have been forcefully transferred, via state power, from men to women and the state through Affirmative Action, Title IX, alimony, asset division and child support (alimony++).

#8: Affirmative Consent – a feminist creation like no-fault divorce (legislation written by NAWL), seeks to remove men’s rights to presumption of innocence and due process at the behest of a woman scorned, on her word alone.

#9: Feminists, while standing tall against the idea of men defining femininity, insist on defining and redefining masculinity.

#10: Feminists claim sole ownership of victimhood and ignore the many benefits patriarchy has bestowed upon women whilst also ignoring the billions of male victims of gynocentrism.

Men rule the earth for a reason, ladies. Men built everything upon it, not women.

I think it's the education system which created the 3rd wave feminism. The ability to think rationale and logical doesn't exist these days and I mean they are so stubborn any facts presented to them gets them triggered. Like always say Never go full retard!

I think people on this website throw this label around FAR too often. On its own, it doesn't really mean much and due to the different cultures that are represented here, people can easily fall into the trap of misunderstanding each other. For example I consider myself a feminist but this might entail some very different things for me than for another user. This is why I wish people stopped hating on people like myself who call themselves 'feminist' simply because of the label and instead asked us concrete questions.
It's kind of like with religious people. Don't call every christian a "fucking moron" before you even know what "christian" means to that particular person. At least give the person the courtesy of answering some concrete questions. If a christian ends up telling you that God wants him to bomb abortion clinics, you can still call him a "fucking moron".

What if you disagree with something that all Christians believe in like that there's a God, and you think that makes them all morons?

@AdamThomas As an atheist myself, I don't think all christians are morons. I think they are wrong but I don't think they are necessarily morons.
Also, the comparison should not be taken at face-value, there are obviously differences. One big difference is that christian beliefs can be disproven with the help of natural science and logic.

If you disagree with even the most moderate convictions of feminism, it means that you believe that women should be systematically discriminated, abused and perhaps even enslaved. If you do believe this, you're just a genuinely bad person.

My point was really that someone can disagree with all Christians based on the idea of the existence of God. I see many people claim that anti-feminists don't understand feminism and that they're only anti-feminist because they see what extremists say and assume that all feminists are like that. I myself simply disagree with feminism altogether because I think that men and women are different and that real equality is therefore un-achievable. That doesn't mean that I want women to be abused or enslaved, absolutely not.

@AdamThomas Yes, men and women are different but that doesn't mean you have to treat them unequally. Black and white Americans are different in many ways. That doesn't justify you to privilege one over the other. So I actually do think this is just a weak argument to justify unfair treatment.

I don't support third wave feminism. The only places where first and second wave feminism would be useful is in certain third world countries but then again it's a matter of human rights in general for some of those countries, not feminism.

Every man is driven to impress women. Thats the only drive for a straight man in this world until he has kids. Everything else is just distraction and embellishment. That being said, men worship women and if they get ones attention they'll do everything to make her happy and for her to want to stick around. After a while it's up to a girl to offer something back for him to stay interested and if she's got a personality and love for him, well, you might have read all the beautiful poems and heard all the lovely songs men wrote when they're in love. Modern age stuff is just a distraction and an obstacle to what a man and women already have through nature. All this career shit and who watches the house and the kids and social status and who owns what is just tiny little bites out of something noble and beautiful. Feminism is one of those. If your well educated and smart enough and you can strip down the basic human relationship between a man and a woman and find what's fundamentally important you'll realise feminism matters not a jot. Neither does a million things in this crazy life they try and tell you is important. You don't need outsiders telling you how to conduct yourself with the opposite sex, you know it already, it's built into our hardware. If a mans bad for you you'll know and people around you who love you will remind you. If a mans good for you you'll know too and people who love you will reinforce that. Trust yourself not some crazy cult. Read about the Gordian knot and decide what the better course of action is.

It claims to be about equality and points to the definition whenever it is criticized, but it's actions have NEVER been anything to do with equality, it has always been a hate group at its core. Its biggest voices (solanas, dworkins, greer, steinem, etc) have all been man haters. They are the most studied and idolized feminist.
Groups like NOW (National organization for women) have stopped equal rights for fathers.

Most people on here view Feminism through the lens of so-called "feminazis" and extrapolate their actions to characterize what a whole movement stands for - usually because it fits their garden variety sexism well.

My take is that it follows the 80/20 rule - 80% of the work goes towards the last 20% of the problem. Also, given the political climate of the United States right now, I think the second Feminists stop fighting things, the gains they've made in the past 100 years or so will immediately start to erode.

I don't know but maybe it's normal when people think that feminism='feminazis'.

I mean, just look at Islam. Because of some of them who commit terrorism, people think that Islam=terrorists even though it's not true. What about Indonesia then? It's such a corrupt country! Well, not all of them do corruption actually, but because some people in the government do it, the whole world thinks that Indonesian=corrupt people.

Don't mean to complicate the thing, but it's their own faults people start to appear bad things about them in mind. Though I also disagree that people can judge feminism without better understanding that it's not the same thing as 'feminazis', the way they should with Islam, Indonesia, and every other single thing that's discriminated in this world.

To be honest I have no exposure to feminism in person. Only in media. But these are my views:

I'm for equal rights, not for feminism. This cuts both ways.

I think women should be allowed to do the same things and not be discriminated against. I think there are some slight statistical differences between men and women (come on ! There are glaring physical differences, do you think it ends there?) but demonstrated skill should determine, not gender.

Do you know the word "misandria" ? The hate of men? It's a thing. Men have very hard time getting adoption rights, for instance. If you share a cartoon about a woman getting raped or "dropping the soap", it's outrage. If a man is taken from behind by a bear, it's FUNNY. Double ethical standards and preferential treatment make me sick.

I think the moment you ask for equal right you surrender your 'princess' status.

A vile and rotten movement to the core from the very beginning.

While it achieved a handful of positives, it never was the innocent women fighting it is made to be (the suffragettes for example only wanting white women to vote and cooperating with the KKK).

And it just got worse over the decades. A lot of useful idiots following the movement for the virtue signaling since all the "equality" talk sounds super positive and awesome - but essentially is just naive. And the leaders of the movement who have influence, power and are mostly heard are just toxic and vile beings abusing their power for their own financial benefit and/or to further their man-hating and post-modernist mindset to destroy the status quo.

My view of feminism is all over the place. Some countries DESPERATELY need it. But for the most part my country does not. The only feminist grievances I have about my country are unrealistic societal expectations, rape kits need to be taken more seriously and lack of required maternal and paternal leave for new parents.
Wage gap is horseshit, there are two genders (if you're trans you're either FTM (which makes you male) or MTF (which makes you female) and not a different gender, being obese is unhealthy and causes severe health problems and few people find that having a spouse with a shorter life expectancy to be attractive, Hillary didn't lose because she is a woman she lost because she is corrupt (not saying Trump is any better either)... But I'll stop there for tonight lol.

TL;DR I'm not a fan of 3rd wave feminism in western 1st world countries

It was great in the 60s during women's rights but now its just a joke. It was about equal rights but now, at least in America, it seems like its about women being superior to men. Feminists think that female oppression is the biggest crisis in the world while the socioeconomic problems are far worse.

"Feminism" is a dirty word these I days.

    I respect women.
    I love women.
    I support women.
    I view women as equals.

The world isn't perfect, and I won't let a few bad apples spoil the lot. I've known some incredible women. And I've known some piss poor sad excuses for people that happened to be female.

My view is that the original feminist movement was just and was necessary. Third wave feminism is a corruption of the roots of feminism. Whilst there are plenty of well meaning advocates of third wave feminism there is also an awful lot of man hating and general hysteria that weakens the cause.

But TODAY'S idea of feminism? To me, it looks about as ridiculous as someone such as myself saying "get that ice cold bottle of Cream Soda away from me," and then proceeding to drop glass after glass of room temp water.

Feminism is a cancer that tears at the very fabric of society, the family. Feminism essentially rejects the biological differences and natural tendencies of the sexes in favor of "equality." Equality has already been achieved, but is that what is truly necessary for women? Women can have jobs and certain women can to typically masculine jobs just as well as men, but getting women into these jobs shouldn't be a focus. If they wish to do them, they will, but right now we need a focus on rebuilding the traditional family as it truly provides the greatest benefit for men, women, and children.

The movement is not inherently bad, but it has become obsolete in recent years.

I only support feminism for women that are facing legit oppression in 3rd world nations, not for western, middle-class, liberal white girls.

A once meaningful movement. Nowadays its ideas are perverted by people who can't think.

From my perspective, feminism is pointless. Like, why hate men? Not all men are out to sexually abuse you.
