Different personalities, and it is likely that those in their close circle of friends and family have validated or over validated the individual's opinions in the past.

Sometimes it takes folks a while to realize that we all have something valuable to offer in terms of sharing opinions and experiences.

I'm just glad that I have an amazing group of friends who value listening just as much as they do talking. We are both pretty good at keeping the bad apples out of our life.

some experience is valued more highly. A skilled diesel mechanic command a higher price for his services than an experienced barista. A doctor with ten years of successful neurosurgeries receives more for her experience than a dental hygienist of similar seniority. The economy places different value on different experience.

Because those people are selfish? Some tend to think their experience is worse than everyone else's. Not all are like that though.
