The intent is to be able to have discussions of substance without anyone going ape shit because they are offended, derailing the discussion - those items of substance, after all, are in desperate need of being discussed. It seemed like a good idea but of course the right doesn't like the idea of substantive solutions and so attacked political correctness to keep such discussions as derailed as possible: both by claiming to be offended by everything and by being as offensive as possible.

Are you serious? I see people on the left - the "woke" crowd - as the most shrill, offensive, combative, closed minded, perpetually outraged people on the planet. They lose their minds at any disagreement. They think they are morally superior and know everything, so they won't listen to new ideas. They believe in using brute force to require compliance with their opinions.

I say this as a life-long democrat who was once proud to have liberal values. My values haven't changed. But the Democratic party as become irredeemably evil and liberalism has gone completely off the rails. So please don't assume that I am a conservative or a Trump fan.
