Has political correctness gone a bit far?

This is where someone will immediately correct you as soon as you try to mention certain traits in a gender, culture or ethnicity.

For instance if you wonder why some women cry too much, they will reply with saying it's normal for a human being to cry and show emotions. Or if you ask something specific about Asians for instance, they will say ''We're all humans''.

Has this political correctness gone a bit far with avoiding genders, ethnicities or other different traits found in some people?

There are cultural questions and sexual questions and just plain questions because a person doesn't know something about a group of people. It's not incorrect to ask such questions.

What's incorrect is to ask such questions of CERTAIN PEOPLE who you know you'll get an asinine political correction from. If you have a close friend who doesn't react so idiotically, rely on that person or another such person. It's no use trying to explain yourself to PC people. They're tiresome.

Sigh. It makes me tired just trying to answer this question because such people are bores! Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. It's indeed no use trying to explain a basic question to them. I actually like knowing about different cultures and it can be tiring having to deal with their ''but there is no cultures, no ethnic group, we're all humans and we all bleed the same'' PC folks.

I think it’s more likely that you just say some ignorant things and don’t care, and you don’t like when people point it out. There’s nothing inherently incorrect about those “corrections” you’ve talked about. If anything they sound like attempts to dismiss your words because they make people uncomfortable and they assume you’re doing it on purpose but they want to be polite.

But there are differences among genders and individuals of different ethnicities. Along with that, comes different cultures, practices and traditions.. even different religion too. Otherwise there wouldn't be international tourism nor interracial marriage where some people actually travel abroad to meet people of different cultures.
For instance women from Latin countries might introduce the date to her family (depending on how decent the man is) and served you a large meal as a way of appreciating your company. Meanwhile I don't introduce a date to my family and much less served him meals on the first dates, unless things really get serious.

That kind of blanket assumption may be part of the problem. By making a statement you also imply you believe all latino families are like that, which simultaneously implies your belief in stereotypes, which is a form of racism.

Why is everything nowadays consider racism? I get the feeling that the word racism is thrown out for everything. There is some truth to stereotypes. It's true that not everyone fits them but some do.
I fit the stereotype of women are more emotional (cry more) then men. That doesn't mean I'm sexist.

If that's the case then international tourism and student cultural interchange programs wouldn't exist. Along with varying ethnicities, comes different cultures, practices and traditions. While we eat cow meat here, a cow is considered sacred in India. In addition, certain ethnicities have different attributes and personalities so no it's not just a ''we're all humans''. Yes we're all humans but with differences. Denying that differences among individuals don't exist is being blind.

Indeed. If we were to remove gender, race or ethnicity and only use the words humans, people then we wouldn't even have international tourism. Even ancient humans had different civilizations too and there were still different groups.
