Why don't big and rich countries help poor countries?

Because there are reasons why some countries are rich and some countries are poor, a lot of poor countries have the potential to become rich with the natural resources their country has. Sierra Leone is an African country which is plentiful in diamonds but diamond fields are illegal and not run by the government which causes all of their mines to cause conflicts among workers there. I know there is fighting over the mines and diamonds due to religious discrimination, the Muslims want to work in the mines but others hate them, and every day at work there is conflict. Of the internal conflict, the illegality of mines, child labour and so on in Sierra Leone's diamond mines, they are thus not allowed to export any diamonds, making their country poor. On the other hand, Botswana a previously poor country used diamond deposits to create legal diamond mines which allowed them to export. Today, Botswana has hundreds of schools, new infrastructure and so on. Why would rich countries help poor countries when they are capable of becoming better but their corrupt governments don't care about doing any good for the country? Countries that have money deserve it they worked for it. However, I would make past colonising countries pay reparations to countries who are poor for their suffering. Like the British Empire took so many resources from African countries for example and the native people have become the way they are today potentially, violent towards Muslims maybe because the British were violent towards them or violent towards the Muslim abusers today.

Because most poor countries are politically corrupt. Very little of the money sent there gets where it's needed. Another point is what do we get in return? Minerals, use of docks and airports, a place to put military bases? Rich countries only help poor ones when they themselves benefit.

Define "help."

The closest thing to mutually beneficial "help" that is relatively common is opening up trade relations, but even going a few steps beyond that turns into exploitation very quickly. Just simply giving away aid invariably turns into profiteering dictators, warlords, and gangs. You won't find a single struggling nation on the planet that isn't castrating itself to the benefit of a powerful few no matter how much "help" you send them. You can get rid of those people, but then others step up and fill in the power vacuum, and the cycle repeats.

You mean, we aren't? In just the past year, Joe gave away a SHIT LOAD of our oil reserves to China, he gave billions away to Ukraine at LEAST once!! He gave billions to Cuba a few weeks ago and he gave the Afghanies billions worth of weapons!! He's giving billions away to anyone that crosses the southern boarder and, so far, now that WE'RE a poor country, thanks to him, instead of HELPING OUR poor, he's only giving billions away to rich college students that can EASILY afford to pay their own god damn college tuitions!!

'Strong' countries do support weaker ones - but usually out of egoistic interests.

''Development Assistance'' is being given since decades, and by various countries.

They do. But there has to be some limits, and they have to be carefully considered decisions. There are always hands out, another issue, and countries need to first and foremost take care of their own citizens.

It's not their responsibility. If a country is sovereign and independent then they should act like it and work together to built their country instead of looking for other nations to come do it for them.
