As someone who always thought my values were liberal, I haven't always agreed with every opinion that is framed as "liberal".

I lost quite a few liberal friends over my support the second amendment rights.
I lost a lot of friends over my criticism of Obama, my negative opinion of Killary and the Democratic party in 2015, and my failure to contract TDS.
I lost some due to my eventual opposition to BLM.
And I lost a lot due to my choice not to mask or get any jabs.
I am very unpopular with Democrats and the "woke" crowd.

I, and many others, finally rejected political partisanship and labels like liberal and conservative. I also made lots of left and right leaning new friends who realize that you can't assume someone's views based on labels. We are open-minded, free thinkers who distrust politicians, government and mainstream media. We don't care about popular consensus. We do research beyond the mainstream. We develop opinions on individual issues, not based on ideology but on facts and logic. We support liberty and freedom.

I didn’t “lose” anything. I dumped a friend because of the increasingly stoopid stuff he said in my presence. I can work with ignorance. I’ll tolerate willful ignorance not at all.

Why didn't you just tell him that you prefer not to discuss political stuff with him and work through or to preserve your friendship instead? How would you feel if someone you valued as a friend did that to you? Wouldn't you have much rather them work it out with you first to preserve the friendship than just ditching you?

I did. Either he couldn’t help himself or didn’t care. He’s not an idiot, so he chooses to be ignorant. Who wants a friend like that? Ell oh ell! Tolerating willful ignorance IS ignorance. And i ain’t ignorant.
If i say something ignorant and a “friend” DOESN’T call me out on it, they’re not much of a friend. They’d be right to dump me and we’d both be better off for it anyway. I’d rather know so i can learn and better myself. But if i’m asked to remove my flag from something in which i’ve mindfully planted it, the relationship has got to go. Facts over feelings. Feelings come and go, just like people. I’m not going to ignore facts because they negatively impact someone’s feelings.

I would've liked some of my former friends to have tried to work it out but seems like they did not value me as a friend enough to do so, looking back I wished I stopped being their friend first the moment they gave a political opinion I disagreed with had I known they would ditch me for having a different view on things.

To clarify, i didn’t dump him for having a different opinion. He bought into gross misinformation and perpetuated it himself. I can and will accept any plurality of thoughts, ideas and opinions. In fact, i welcome them. But don’t tell me water ain’t wet because someone you didn’t vote for said it is. Facts over feelings, always.

Yeah, personally I put ''misinformation'' in the same categories as beliefs, opinions, thoughts, and ideas.

My mother stopped talking to me after I asked her what it would take for her to lose faith in Trump, she answered if he was ever convicted of a crime, and i followed up with asking how she would know she could trust the verdict if he is found guilty. Had a few friends I only really kept in touch with via Facebook block me during various mistakes of the Trump presidency, but I didn't speak to them much anyway..

Fuck no, I'm the moderate of the group. The rest would happily kick shit out of a SWAT squad, if it came to it.

Had a “friend” I had for nearly 20 years stop talking to me because Trump got elected and I didn’t think he was Super-Hitler.

Crazy, me it's the liberal friends that ditched me because of my opinion on covid. Who stops being someone's friend over an opinion on a cold virus seriously.

Liberals are the most intolerant and unaccepting of others. It’s really incredible to see. They just say that others are “toxic” or “spreading misinformation” or “hate” and they just decide to excise you from their lives.

It's not just liberals, I'm conservative and I've lost some conservative friends over my takes about foreign policy, but I lost much more liberal friends than conservative ones due to politics. Liberals are much less tolerant of opposing views from my experience.

Nope. Never actually had friends but associates and I don't care about their political views at all, but all of my associates were liberals except one of them that is a conservative.
