The ship is sinking and the seas are rough. All but one lifeboat has
been destroyed. The lifeboat holds a maximum of six people. There
are ten people that want to board the lifeboat. The four individuals
who do not board the boat will certainly die. These are the people
you must choose from:

Woman who thinks she is six weeks pregnant
Lifeguard
Two young adults who recently married
Senior citizen who has fifteen grandchildren
Elementary school teacher
Thirteen year old twins
Veteran nurse
Captain of the ship

Who do you pick, and WHY?

• Lifeguard... sense of duty makes him/her value other lives first than his/her
• Two young adults who recently married
• Senior citizen... volunteers as well, he already lived a great life and his grandkids have other grandparents
• Teacher... another outstanding citizen, volunteers to see the twin kids make it
• Thirteen year old twins
• Veteran nurse
• Captain of the ship... a captain goes down with its ship, also, didn't secure the boats enough

(1) Captain of the ship - Captains ALWAYS go down with the ship.



(2) Senior citizen who has fifteen grandchildren - is likely the oldest, as compared to all other passengers, so is more expendable.


(3) Veteran nurse - could take care of injured or sick on the ship.


(4) Elementary school teacher - last choice left, least valuable.

The captain of the ship definitely dies. Because he's the one who got us in that situation in the first place.

I would not pick the captain. The captain always goes down with his ship.
