Should there be a law where corporations are prohibited from donating money to politicians and political campaigns here in the U. S. A?

those restrictions did exist, but they both eliminated them few years ago, not even that long

In 1976 the Supreme Court made it legal and part of free speech and expression of the 1st amendment. 🙄

I think it was around 2010... "independent expenditures, including those made by corporations, do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption." the Court said

so, no... unlimited cash from private companies to politicians elected, which often get inside trading information before every one else, and such companies sponsoring such elected officials can have laws incoming that benefits them... "apparently" not corrupt enough because free speech, so yes... money does talk indeed, lol

Probably. But, the far right Supreme Court ruled the opposite of this with Citizens United. And the only people who are really in a position to criticize it are the media, but they aren't going to because they are the ones who are ultimately on the receiving end of all that corporate money in an election year..

Politician should NOT be taking that kind of money at all if they are servants of the people. Large corporations like fossil fuel and elitist land owners need to be going to jail for corruption of lobbying and and contributing to divided government, and shattering American democracy.

There are already laws that limit what a corporation can donate. An outright prohibition would violate the first amendment... courts have ruled that corporations, like people, have the right of free speech.

Well, I think its wrong. They can donate as individuals but not as a financial corporation.

The average American can't compete with billionaire corporations funding political campaigns and politicians at the expense of the country, Americans and their future.
