Should members of Congress DONATE their pay during a government SHUTDOWN?

Question

During a government shutdown, members of Congress still get paid, like usual, while all other Federal workers are either furloughed or work for no pay... until after the shutdown when they receive back pay.

Should members of Congress donate their pay during a shutdown?

Something else that will help them get their heads out of their butts…
Criminalize lobbying and fix legislators’ and senators’ salary to the average hourly wage in their district. Let them try to survive on the same menial incomes that their constituents are trying to survive on. If they’re caught insider trading, seize all of their assets and put them in prison for as many years as it would have taken their average voter to earn that much at that fixed hourly wage.
We really need to start over from scratch right now. Give every one of them the opportunity to donate everything they own to their constituents. If they refuse, firing line in public square, and take it anyway. Then the next candidates for their open seats are subject to the above limitations.
I guarantee the US economy is righted in under two years if that’s what we required. Our government and economy is corrupted because we ALLOW it to be. Quit idolizing criminals who are literally stealing from you while you’re calling them “ambitious” and “successful”! They’re con artists and we’re the marks!

The fact you might get back pay is of little condolences when your rents due today. Most people pay bills by automatic direct debit on payday, it can cause havoc if the money isn't in your account.

But even if Congress donated it wouldn't cover everyone. Better if people brought a class action lawsuit and sued them

While it's institutionally legal for members of Congress to continue receiving salaries during a government shutdown, it's morally untenable. Since other federal employees are being furloughed, lawmakers should follow suit and donate at least a symbolic portion of their salaries.

How do you make $200k a year and go from broke to $20M net worth in 4 years? How did Obama go from $3M net worth when he won his first presidential election to $400M when he left office.

Well i would have said yes but now I see that his royal majesty Donny the first is trading off national Forrest land or parkland , eitherway land neither of us can touch and funding a road through it for a percentage of some mine In Alaskas annual take. Congress and the POTUS shouldn't be paid during the shutdown. The GOP knows all they have to do to end the shutdown. They don't want to. The democrats will vote in favor of ending it if the ACA subsidies are added in. They've made it clear. The GOP knows this, and they decided to let the shutdown continue rather than add in the one thing they know will get enough votes to end the shutdown.
