Let's say I want to be a Democratic Mayor for my city. But because we have illegal immigrants here, I have to get ICE to deport them out. What now?

Let's say I'm a Democrat running for mayor of NYC. One of my biggest concerns as a democratic mayor are those immigrants being in my city illegally, whether homeless or not homeless. Regardless of why illegal immigrants are in my city, they are illegally in my city. That's like buying groceries without paying. And as a democratic mayor, I'm ordering the NYPD, the New York State Police (NYSP), and ICE, to eject from NYC every illegal immigrant that is in my city illegally and have them deported from my country on the double. As long as they are illegal immigrants and as long as I'm the mayor, they're situation will never matter to me. They're country has to take care of their issues. My focus is NYC, and no place else. All this money going to illegal immigrants can be used to do lots of extremely important things, like lowering taxes, lowering rents, lowing college tuition, lowering gas prices, and more. But now, people want to document illegal immigrants and let them live here and let homeless people live in the streets, which is what the current democratic mayor stands for. If I became mayor, even if I'm Democrat, by law, those illegal immigrants are getting deported (I mean they getting chucked the hell out NYC) without remorse. I'm sorry but the law doesn't give a damn about how either of us feel. I'm required as a democratic mayor to protect NYC. This is if I become a democratic. And NO, rape is NOT an excuse for coming to the United States illegally (especially on a handmade raft). What are your thoughts?

Also, as a democratic mayor, if I were to be mayor, I'm outlawing illegal immigration altogether. That means I'm taking ALL the money for ALL people and organizations that have money to help illegal immigrants, so that nobody has ANY money to help illegal immigrants. All immigration assistance with be BANKRUPT! Same thing with bail reform! All of that money will only be used to help and care for people that are LEGALLY here in NYC.

Also, as mayor, it is not your job or prerogative to deal with migrants. Its the job of immigration and central government.

To be fair, immigrants who can handmake a raft and still make it to the USA are people your employer should hiring instead of deadbeat bigots like you.

I'm not a bigot. I'm a law follower. Illegal immigration is straight up against the law and potentially dangerous to the safety of my city and country. For crying out loud, we just got over a novel coronavirus. My employer should not be hiring people that came in here on a raft. If anything, the outta be shut down and thrown in jail as a result of hiring undocumented people.

Probably the first thing is to get rid of all the liberal DAs and start enforcing the laws. Once they see that if you stay in New York you will be deported they will all flock to Chicago and DC.

Then you're not going to win the Democratic nomination. Look, I understand where you're coming from, but rooting illegal immigrants out is going to require a small fortune- and it's not a one-time expense, either. Cracking down on business owners hiring them is going to mean ever-more restrictions on LEGITIMATE job-seekers, too- that's pretty much the entire voting base.

Realistically, you're going to have to have SOME kind of amnesty for those who're already here illegally, even if it's just letting them take the citizenship test.

Immigrants already here illegally unfortunately are going to be looking over their shoulder forever because everyone will be asking for ID's all over the place, and ICE is going to dispose them right at the gate. It'll be all over cameras, news and everywhere, wanted signs everywhere. Their score on the citizenship test won't matter and your job seeking won't matter. You broke the law by entering this country on a raft. When you break the law, as mayor, I'm going to be coming for you to ask you to back your bags and leave the country. This definitely means cracking down on business owners - calling for those ever tight restrictions on who's supposed to be here and who's not. If you are an illegal immigrant, your job seeking is not legitimate.

And this is why people are leaving the democratic party, because people they entice people to break the law and ignore the dire needs of our own country. Democratic leaders these days lie under oath and call themselves upholding the constitution. No wonder America is too expensive to live in. It would be stupid to be a democratic mayor for NYC and say I'm going to help illegal immigrants, when in reality I'm gonna chuck them the heck out my city, lol.

So, what is your question? You can certianly campaign on that and if it gets sufficient support in the primary then you should do it if elected. You'll certianly find the problem isn't nearly as bad as you promised it was, and it solves nothing you promised it would solve, but if you win by campaigning on that promise then you should do it, if for no other reason than to give your supporters the opportunity to learn that they were dumb for believing you.

One illegal immigrant in NYC is one too many illegal immigrants in the USA. That's how bad it is. And when you say "I give my supporters the opportunity to learn that they were dumb for believing me," what do you mean by that?

I understand you feel that way but that doesn't make it objective fact. Whatever problem you believe it will solve will not actually be solved. The only thing it will do is make you feel better, and the maintenance of your feelings is likely not a priority for anyone at all who you would be asking to vote for you, unless they share those feelings, too. But if you're trying for a feeling-based platform you're going to have to either run as a republican or convince Republicans to register as Democrats to win you the primary.

Of course you're not going to win the primary on a platform of xenophobia unless you convince your base that you are dedicated to their feelings and whatever else you have to say to win the primary should be ignored if they don't agree with it. This opens the door to a lot of tricks. You can outright lie and say you support things like free housing. Your republican supporters will know you are lying but maybe you can trick a few far left people to support you. Or you can try to split the votes for normal democrats by funding the underdogs. The idea is to emerge as the moderate to gain compromise candidate status, and then once you win you can go on with your plan. Surely there will be those marginalized people along the way who tried to warn what you were really about, of course, and you will give them credibility by doing as they predicted. Sadly credibility isn't worth much after Citizens United allowed the rich to just buy repetition, but maybe the opportunity is still there for people to learn if they take an interest..

I'm not afraid of a people from other countries. I'm afraid of the law being broken. Slipping into a country is against the law and you know it. And we just got over a 2 and 1/2 year long pandemic. How would you feel about illegal immigrants sleeping in front of your home?

There are crimes far more costly to society than illegal immigration, and far less expensive to rectify. Knowing that but putting your focus on this anyway screams of being ruled by your emotions.

As far as illegal immigrants sleeping in front of my home I wouldn't mind any more than I would a US citizen sleeping in front of my home. And in fact I would mind less than I would mind a republican sleeping in front of my home.
