Should we bargain with Russia for Griner?

She did stupidly bring in drugs to a pretty harsh regime. But…that doesn’t really matter does it? she's a political prisoner.

I don't mind bargaining for her or anyone else in a similar position. But it should be equitable. I think some of the bargaining with Griner is really about someone else, and they throw her in as an extra. If the US gives away the farm for her, I'll be pretty pissed. It needs to be equitable, and the US is not in a good bargaining position in that regard.

It's her own damn fault for doing what she did. But I don't want to see her or anyone else rot in a Russian prison for years over something like that. But keep in mind that she was smuggling across an international border. Even in countries where pot is legal like Canada, she could get arrested for smuggling across the border.

If they get her out, I think they should let her sit in jail for at least six months. Maybe it will knock some sense into her.

No she went to Russia, smuggled in drugs and should be in prison. I’m for the legalization of weed but that’s in the United States Russia has its own laws it’s own customs and has the right to lock up those who smuggle drugs into the country respect the laws in the country your in, I love Japan I don’t bring a ounce of weed when I go, why because it’s illegal in Japan. If she loves Russia she shouldn’t be going to Russia with vape cartridges in her bag

Of course it matters, better follow the laws when you go into a different country. Such as the people in the US trying to conceal carry a gun into Mexico, then getting five years in prison.

Ignorance is not an excuse, regardless of which country it is or what the charge is.

Obviously, this is political bullshit. They sentenced her as if she were a dealer with intent to distribute. Considering that the Russians dope practically every athlete at the highest levels, it a total farce. Putin is just a fucking pig. Yeah, she was an idiot, but we should try and get her back.
