Cause our country was founded on free speech.. Not the lack there of.

Sorry I see his take over as a restoration of free speech and democracy.. Not the other way around. In a healthy society you should be able to speak as you wish and believe as you wish without threat of harm or censorship.

This is from a week ago. The Twitter takeover is not complete.

But anyway, calls for violence are a problem in a democracy. Intimidation/hate speech is a bit of a grey area, however, as its nature is to strongly suggest violence without actually saying it. But it's hard to prove that it was intended even if it actually happens.

And then there are scams. Those are more "economic violence" than physical, but unfettered free speech does nothing to stop it.

However, the very concept of free speech is about what the government can impose penalties for saying. The ToS agreements for social media do >not< fall under the jurisdiction of the government and if they kick people off for any or no reason, there's nothing the government can or should do about it either way.

They're just garbage people trying to gaslight the public. They don't realize that people stopped listening to these idiots years ago though, and that whatever they say is always taken as the opposite of the truth. This must mean we're about to enter a new golden age of prosperity for Twitter.

Then again, can such a craphole site even be saved? These same mental midgets also said they'd move to Canada if Trump got elected, would move out of Florida if the so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill passes, and would deactivate their Twitter accounts back in the Summer of 2022 if Musk bought the site. And they haven't done any of those things, either.

It's a threat to their narrative. Hearing and allowing opposite opinion is essential part of real democracy. Those people who see in free speech a threat for democracy confuse it with totalitarianism

Non-violent speech should not be banned, but a platform can do what it wants. However, if it does take to censoring non-violent speech, then it should be considered a publisher, not a platform, and then should be held liable for copyright infringement that takes place. If they can almost instantly censor someone for talking about Hunter Biden's laptop then surely then can take down material under copyright once it is pointed out.
