I support constitutional police chiefs whose departments defend the citizenry. I think the chiefs should augment their police forces by deputizing militias in case of massive riots. Similar to what the citizens of Coffeeville did to the Dalton gang.

There should be orders to shoot to kill if rioters do not surrender. Qualified immunity.

No. I don't have a side of the fence. I support the right to peacefully protest. But I feel the same antipathy toward anyone who riots, loots, vandalizes, commits arson, and terrorizes innocent people.

The army is not trained for riot control, nor equipped for it. They can't even perform law enforcement tasks unless specifically allowed by law or martial law. Riots don't qualify for martial law.

But that aside, we should be expected to trust cops to stop it when they couldn't handle basic riots? Where 300 cops couldn't stop one armed kid in an enclosed space? Lol don't make me laugh.

Perhaps not in your country (though I doubt it), but in mine and many (most) others, they certainly are. In the US, I guarantee the National Guard train and are equipped for riot control.

Depends on the community, I think it's should be up to the community itself and the local police. if the community is 90% 18 year olds who've never touched a gun or a weapon, that's a bad idea for them to get involved. If they know what they're doing, even better, pull out your glocks.

I think it is better if police and courts do so. If necessary army troops. Average Joes are likely to escalate the situation.
