You can build up a stockpile of food when it is on sale and draw from the stockpile when it is expensive. It’s good to have at least enough to live off of for a month in case supply is disrupted. Be sure to research how to prepare the food for storage and store in sealed, food-grade containers. Gardening is also good if you can manage it, but it is impossible for most people to be self-sufficient with it. The US should have plenty of grain and energy, but our elites will sell our supply to the highest bidder and have already sent too much LNG to Europe, which will make for an expensive winter in New England. So they might be fine letting us suffer.

It's a bit late for precautions but the solution was to have been buying local all this while. Bolster local markets with loyalty and you don't have to worry about global supply lines.
