Many years ago, I was in foster care.

Keep in mind this was the same place that beat me and drugged me because I wouldn't participate in religious activities.

It's the most vivid memory I have of the place. A youth, my same age, male, was my best friend. I honestly called him brother.

We were coming home from watching a movie. We were in the back of the van. Sharing our remaining popcorn, and relaxing. There were several other boys in the same van. Most of which I did not like mostly because they were sex offenders, drug addicts, and bullys..

The next day I was confronted by staff, accused of doing sexual things with my friend. I denied it as did he. Because it never happened. We were both given a polygraph test.. He passed, I failed due to nerves and fear... We were both asked the exact same questions, we both denied any wrong doing and had the same answers.. And he passed, and I did not. I was beaten senseless, drugged and left in isolation. For a Month with just water and bread for food. No bathroom breaks, no social interaction no nothing. I was expected to sleep in my filth..

Later on I moved to a new placement and demanded another polygraph test. I passed with flying colors. At that point I made it my mission to have the organization that did what they did to me destroyed. I succeeded.. Additionally I sued my state for allowing it to happen, and won. I cause the department called social rehabilitation services to be completely gutted and renamed. Sadly in its current iteration the same shit is happening to kids today.

False accusations hurt real victims. They hurt the accused. The trauma believe it or not never goes away. Because of that situation I have minor ptsd, and I lost a best friend.

Yep. Tried to join theatre. The girls there didn't like outsiders, so they started spreading rumors that I was a sexual predator and had assaulted women all across campus. Especially painful because I was active in a group supporting victims so this issue matters to me.

I myself was later assaulted by one of them, and received several death threats, and could have been expelled if security hadn't caught on to what was going on.

The rumors were one thing. Another was the discussion around it. "Maybe you deserve to go to prison on behalf of the men who get away." "Well you might not have done it, but I'm sure you were thinking it." The only ones who had my back were the ones who actually knew me. Otherwise, the worst culprits were the ones saying "feminism is for everyone. We should acknowledge sexism everywhere." Yeah, those were the most hollow words I had ever heard. I had had their back. But when push came to shove, they proved definitively they had no interest in having mine.

Really messed me up, like I went straight redpill and back after all of it. Still a topic of discussion with therapists.

When I was little like 7 in school, I found a classmate's book that was missing.

She opened it and accused me of writing in it. I was shocked and denied it.

The teacher checked everyone's writing and concluded mine was a match. Then she put me before the class and made everyone shame me and I was crying.

She also kept me kneeling before the class for like 30 minutes. I cried a lot during the punishment. I will never forget that day till I die. I was very shy back then so I didn't tell my parents what happened when I got home traumatized.

Still makes me want to cry even now cause I didn't do it. But it taught me early that the world was not all nice.

I'll keep it clean! I remember being accused of cheating in high school on examinations because many of my answers were practically verbatim from the text or lectures. I have incredible memorization skills, and my further advancement in college and post graduate studies seemed to prove that I was in fact pretty bright.

Several times. And it ranges from a disappointment because I lose friends (but the benefit is I do find who my real friends are, if I have any), to some really nasty stuff.

That’s so much more difficult. The only benefit (if any) is that it makes me smarter in a way, and a lot more protective of myself… but it also ruins things, and is kinda sad. I like to help others. But in this day and age, it’s safer to not do anything. No good deed… luckily, it wasn’t ever where I got fired, or my livelihood was ruined… I’m lucky in the sense that it didn’t come to that… but it makes it so much harder to trust in the future.

My supervisor at a previous job lied to get me fired. Said I'd been trained to the standards of the position, had been formally corrected, retrained, and disciplined. Just said "you've had some performance issues, so you're done here". So, false accusations of incompetence, I guess.

Other than that, not much that's gotten rumor mills started or involved administrative actions or inquiries. Just the usual racism and sexism silliness.

Many years ago I was accused of stealing from my place of employment. I of course denied it because I don't steal. They fired me and told me not to come back in any of their stores. About a month later the owner called me and apologized because the theft continued after I was fired. They found out who it was and fired them. They offered me my job back because I was a great worker. I declined because I said the trust is gone. I don't work for anyone that doesn't trust me.
