So my boyfriend is a firefighter and he's been transferred to medical runs. He's been complaining about it and that people call 911 for "bullshit calls" like somebody said a girl had seizures but she actually had a panic attack and I'm like wow they should give her medicine he was like "he wouldn't call 911 for half the stuff these dumbasses call for" or "they don't need help because it's not 911 worthy" I told him he needs to be empathic and help people even if the problem is minute. What he said made me feel uncomfortable like he's supposed to be in a field to help people and people that need him get on his nerves because he feels it's not a big issue.
You must realize that not everyone has good judgement whether to call 911 or not - they have a hard time deciding. So, once you press 911, there is no going back, they gave to go and check out the call.
Sometimes a person gets in a situation but feel it's too much for them to handle it alone and they feel they need help. So, they call for help.
Someone I know has a teenage son that has learning disabilities. His hands are constantly dry, so he puts hand lotion on them. One night his mother was sleeping and he put the lotion all over his hands. When he woke up his hands were bright orange. He called 911. They came and his mother woke up to all kinds of commotion. It turned out it was lotion he put on his hands - but ut was self-tanning lotion and tanned his hands while he was asleep. He was scared to death when he woke up to see his hands all orange. So you can see how not all calls are a true emergency even if it seems like an emergency to the person pressing 911 on their phone.
You stay sweet and be on his side. You need to be his understanding girl for him.

He’s absolutely correct though. He’s in a stressful field and a lot of people do call for idiotic reasons. All he is doing is complaining to you and you shouldn’t make him feel bad / feel inhumane for complaining. You can tell the difference between a panick attack and a seizure , and I can see why he thinks it was a waste of time.
Maybe he's saying that because while he's dealing with ms panic attack someone else is busy dying in a house fire?
How about you go and put in a shift at his job before you go whining about him and smearing him to other people.

no don't say anything. You have no clue how many people waste emergency services time that it is extremely frustrating for them because those calls are taking them away from real and genuine emergency where it is life and death. He has every right to vent his frustration
It is a waste of government and his resources responding to at least 50% of these 911…
He's toxic. I would be really mad if I was you
