What happened to the red wave?

Honestly the fact that it's even this close still counts as flood enough to drown in. I can understand right wingers are tired of the responsibility of constantly deciding the direction of the country and so just want a dictatorship, but I don't understand why, if they feel that way, they would still bother voting. Just let the left take care of the right, as it always has.

i'm scared that if the right doesn't make a 180 turn and stop their nonsense, the democrats are going to continue gaining power and our democracy will be lost.

If the republican party loses again in 2024, almost certianly the democratic party will split as they have needed to for some time. Right now both liberals and conservatives are represented in the democratic party. Whereas Republicans are just circus performers pretending to be politicians, representing no one but their owners. There are rumors of some Republicans who want to take their job seriously, but none on the record. And those who do say so on the record promptly get ousted by the rest of the party. The republican party has to fall to democracy, or defeat it. There is no third option.
