What do you make of this quote: “It’s a dangerous proposition to let luck go to one’s head; the incline is equally steep in both directions” ?

That there's no such thing as "luck" -- it's all hard work (that's the incline up to "luck"); and that it's easy to lose "luck" if you slack off, don't look where you're going, stop working so hard, etc. -- that's the incline steeply down and away.
I like this quote!
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity - Seneca
I agree with both takes. Being lucky is never constant state, it's a burst.
Meaning you cannot count on getting lucky in life for you have no control on when and how that luck will manifest

"Beginner's luck"! Don't let early success convince you that you've earned what you've achieved lest you be reminded the hard way. Reminds me of when I first started playing online poker. I definitely had beginners luck and for the first couple weeks it seemed like all I did was win. I'm a very analytical and methodical person in just about everything I do. So I kept projections of where I'd be an after those first couple of weeks and I figured I would have clear 300k in a years time. A whole lot better than my day job to say the least. But when the cards turned on me, they turned something fierce.🤣 And I quickly got humbled about how limited my card playing abilities actually were.
Just something said to sound clever, but says very little.
Luck by it's very nature is fickle and not something one can "control" anyway. Let alone have it go to one's head. In fact the right term for those people is "one hit wonders".
Make sure you have your head on when steeping both up and down and things can turn out good without anyone getting hurt.
First of all, awesome picture. The Great Wall of China is one of the most magnificent wonders of the world.
Regarding the quote, I think it's saying to not become complacent. Be thankful for the good luck that life brings you, but always be on your guard and be prepared for wrenches that might pop up in your gears.
luck is 50/50. an incline is a climb in one direction. but the fall is also that far. don't base anything on luck unless you're willing to take that gamble
Seems to be true, in my observation. Luck gives people a sense of confidence about themselves that might not be truly deserved.
Luck are favourable probalities in life and the timing of it which favours to gain your objective with less effort.
Luck is something that unexpectedly happens in your favour.
You cannot rely on luck , you got to do what you got to do.
I'd say it's lucky... if the way down comes in a step, because most of the times is actually a free fall, quicker and way harder... lol
It means that luck can go in both ways. A lot of things can happen that were good to or for you one day. Then another day, you can have extremely bad luck - bad things happening to you.
It's about being overconfident after a few lucky shots. So, stay humble and like will offer you all it's chaos and order depending on what you seek
It's not a bad quote - if you believe in luck.
Meaning watch your step on wall you might fall off
