Unfortunately, the California plant is in Fremont (it's the former New United Motors plant, which was a joint venture between GM and Toyota), and most of the worker base is going to come from nearby cities such as Oakland and Hayward and Richmond. Those are very diverse areas, and definitely NOT areas known for their political correctness or their "corporate-friendly culture."
Elon's error here was not clamping down on that crap soon enough. He was working 20 hours a day trying to keep Tesla from going bankrupt during that time, not to mention SpaceX, and clearly weren't "taking out the trash" fast enough. We had similar problems at the bank I worked at, which had call centers in a number of cities with similar demographics. Many workers adjusted and worked out just fine, but there were constantly people being fired for various reasons, including political correctness.
I doubt this is a problem at Tesla anymore - there have been fewer pressing problems and more time to address these kinds of things - but, yeah, it's amazing how many directions problems can come at you when you're in charge of even one big company, much less several.
Neil Tyson said it right: "The good thing about Science is that it’s true, whether or not you believe in it." Given that much of the woke narrative goes against well established scientific facts, it's an issue. Because it's not just scientists in the US trashing the narratives and providing evidence to disprove it. Also the woke movement also has a really bad habit of crying wolf. Words like racism and sexism are quickly losing any value attached to them. Due to people crying wolf and attempting make small issues or non-issues into major issues and lumping them into some ism category. Some people are going as far as making up new issues and cramming them into a ism.
An elevator operator job? Those still exist? I thought they went away a decades ago, I mean most people know how to push a button.
I can imagine people are going to get fired by Elon over this, as he can't be aware of everything people under him are doing.
Elon is okay. I don't condone all his actions, but he's fine.
He has very little in common with Trump.

……..
DeSantis's lawyers were required to define "woke" in court. They went with something along the lines of "the belief that there are systemic injustices and the resolve to fix them."
It seems a lot of right wing rage would fizzle out if they were required to understand what their own leaders think the definition of woke is. The ambiguity around the definition allows a lot of right wing misinformation to imply that woke means things like "you will go to jail if you don't use pronouns!" or "Trump will go to jail if you don't send us 500 dollars!" or whatever..
Musk is just a billionaire with a superiority complex. The well being of some employees is of little and no concern to him. If he should lose and be fined or decide to settle it'll just be chump change to him. Wokeism is just a word the right tosses out whenever there is a racial component to anything... a little smoke screen...
Much like the way they scream cancel culture just before they block you and delete your posts.
to 12Volt: Trump left us in the poorest shape then we've ever been in both of our lifetime; The economy lost 2.9 million jobs. The unemployment rate increased by 1.6 percentage points to 6.3%. 400000 dead due to his negligence. and he left us with a national debt close to 8 trillion dollars... not to mention the ridicule we suffered because of his unsurpassed stupidity and insanity. a mature and reasonable person wouldn't block people like that... certainly not one who has any real conviction or facts.
I consult businesses, including in HR, and the Tesla plant in question just had a bunch of overly sensitive black employees, including those who are professional victims- who have gone to other employers and sued them for the same thing. California is very "labor friendly" and because of its politics it's really easy to win on racial allegations, because you only need the complainants testimony.
What is this shit supposed to be?
You think that this racist shit was Elon's preferred outcome?
It is way past time that we started holding the individuals accountable rather than the companies when it is infact individuals and not systemic systems at fault.
We don't like to do that though because individuals dont have the coin to pay out $137 million law suits.
He owns Twitter, what's wrong with people. He hires whoever he chooses. If his employees are for instance Nazis and they are bringing him profits then what is wrong with that? His company, his money. None of other people's opinion really matters.
It's not like he is getting black workers or minority workers for lesser pay is it?
FElon is rarely right about anything- and is going to be the new Enron. He's a shit employer and an even shittier businessman.
He has good social skills. But he's not as great as he likes to think he is.
I say both, but the worst is still those woke people and their ideas, not extremely demanding boss, that you don't want to work for. That guy needs to learn about work life balance.
define woke.
Can’t really speculate on his ability as a boss I’ve never worked for him. Given his company space x was the only way the government could get back into space, his electric cars, paypal … he myst be doing something right.
This is definitely a corrosive ideology that is going to destroy America once the Boomers and Gen X are all dead.
I would not want to work from Musk since he sounds like a fucking slave driver but he's not a racist 🤷♂️
This should have been taken care of long before it got to the point of a law suit. Either there's no redress procedures or bad HR going on, and lower management sucks.
I find it amusing that all elon has done id fire people who we not doing thier jobs in the first place, and enforce twitters rules unilaterally instead of just against the right. Yet people are having such a fit about it.
could be, I do consider being a democrat or far left is a disability so yeah
Elon is a rock star. I hope he runs for president.
and he'll destroy the country more.
@Sabretooth
There won't be much left to destroy after Biden is finished.
i'd fire every minority there. grow some balls and stick up for yourself
goofy looking fuck.
@ChefPapiChulo oh hey papi
He is not a conservative or even a centrist. He is a liberal grifter. Gen Y and Gen Z social progressives and even some leftists have fell for the grift. His neoconservatism is the new norm.
But my answer to your question is both. Wokeism was started wayyyy before the Trump era. In fact 9/11 removed God from our schools and kids have become more depressed and more inept.
Regardless, this country needs a real man like Andrew Tate or Jordan Peterson. I prefer Tate because he is more outspoken and more badass and he is an actual redpiller.
He's intelligent, but he has a flawed history too. He worked with Ghislane Maxwell WAYYY too far longer than Donald Trump and the Clintons did COMBINED. He is a globalist who praises CHINA and its neoconservative (disguised as "communist" by the CIA wing of the so-called CCP, and by the west) domestic policies. He is as much of a Trump supporter as Candace Owens is a Biden supporter.
Delusional right invents fictional virus. Describes actual virus that killed 6 million as hoax.
It's crazy how liberals are suddenly trying everything they can to cancel Elon.
Musk fired essential workers who he then begged to return.
@Sabretooth Time will tell whether they were essential. Twitter was laden with overpaid, underperforming worked who needed to be purged. I have heard nothing about him begging anyone to come back. Do you have proof you can link?
it's been discussed a lot since: futurism.com/.../twitter-fired-employees-come-back
this shouldn't be a surprise--people like Musk and Trump always leave things in ruin. arrogance breeds incompetence. these are the types of people who should have no authority. my step-father is the same way... minus being rich... and I tell him all the time that he would make a horrible boss.
Yes. This wokeness garbage has definitely gotten out of hand. It's annoying already.
That's worth $137 million?
Not so perfect.
Employing them was a bad idea.
Not a fan of Elon Musk.
Yes he is right.
