If they were safe, yes. That is if I ever had kids. I would want to vet any babysitter, but that's actually vetting. They'd have to not be on drugs or drinking, and not have a criminal record at least. So I wouldn't just hire them even if they were a drag queen rather than some unemployed teenager.
