No, I have not used it. Then again, I have never used Tik Tok, Facebook, Twitter, or any of the other myriad of technological toys that so obsess the culture.

While I am no fan of Mr. Trump, though I am a Republican, I have no doubt that many of the users of Truth Social are good people. Indeed, while some of the suspicions regarding the problems at Twitter in terms of its' being compromised by illicit government efforts to bias its' activities appear to have been borne out, this is all symptom and not cause.

Rather, the problem is a culture that is obsessed with the pen instead of what is written by the pen. Twitter and all the rest - Truth Social included - would not matter half so much if people learned to judge the content of what they see by historical and objective standards instead of being mesmerized by the fact that some 100 (or whatever length it is) statement appeared on a computer screen.

To paraphrase a famous line by Henry L. Stimson, "Gentleman do not 'tweet.'" Rather they read books of history, philosophy and literature. When they do, and when they are aware of the politicians they are electing and the laws being passed by their elected officials, they are less influenced by what pops up on a computer screen.

Suffice to add, when they are obsessed by the computer screen, elections are decided by the most absurd standard. Vocabulary gets sloppy and thinking grows thin. Predictable cultural, legal, social and political results to follow.

To digress, this website is about as "tech" as I get. The format is simple, the tools easy to use and debates are there for all to see. As tech tools go, G@G is about where tech should begin and end in terms of political and cultural debate and discussion. Twitter, Facebook and all the rest merely add bells and whistles that conduce to shallow thinking and the elevation of emotion over reason.

So I do not use Truth Social. Not because of who does or does not use it. Not because of who owns it. Rather because it is merely another symptom of the culture's obsession with gadgets and the gut level reactions that flow therefrom.
