Why people from my generation millennial are envious and jealous of each other?

I would have tough that once people past over the age of 25 we would be mature and act like actual adults. I noticed that mostly people around my age love being in competition envious of others success. One of my cousins who happens to be my same age got upset about me owning a home and having a well paid job.

As per usual I am speaking generally.

Because your generation was never taught that being perpetually self serving and self indulgent is not only repulsive but evil.

Many in your generation were never punished in any way for any thing as children. They were also told constantly that they’re important and special and unique when they went to school and were pumped full of self esteem psychology, and your parents treated you as friends and equals and also echoed the self esteem psychology that had become so prevalent.

So, your generation was basically given the unspoken message they can do no wrong and if they did were never punished for it and if they were, certainly not in a way that caused regret. Meanwhile your generations egos were constantly catered to and inflated by both parents and teacher alike. In addition to this they were rewarded for very nominal achievements and praised for the most minor of accomplishments.

This created children who had the perception they were very special and unique and important among the people of the world and entitled to what they want, when they want it, how they want it without exception and whatever they want they expect it right now.

The enduring result is a generation of self indulgent, self serving, utterly selfish and prideful people who not only think every whim of their heart should be catered to by everyone immediately, but also people who resent when other succeed where they have not.

It is the fault of my generation. We have created a generation of people who very literally worship themselves and very literally expect others to do likewise. A generation of people who think the ends justify the means and think little if anything of ruthlessly exploiting anyone at anytime in any way to get their way. After all, in their minds, who could possibly be more deserving of what they desire than them? Should someone else achieve what they cannot they are jealous as a result.

This is narcissism, and the world has become full of it.

Many psychologists would say narcissism results from abuse. I disagree. I think it results from spoiling children, who in turn engage in very literally the deification of themselves and the worship of themselves by having attitudes and dispositions that they are better than everyone else and entitled to special treatment and can do now wrong. This is what pride unchecked looks like in a person. If one has never received instruction in reducing personal pride, how will they as an adult? They don’t know how. In like manner of they have been habitually taught and been in the constant habit of self glorification, how will they do otherwise once those habits are firmly entrenched?

Jealousy burns the wealth of nations. You crave someone else's wealth and start obsessing why he or she has it but not you. Thinking and burning inside for not having something is the worst

Instead people should say, thank God for giving them wealth may I also have the same. This is a lot better thought process

And no, it's not millennials, in my country older blue collar people had this problem a lot and the result is we are practically backwaters thinking and envying someone's wealth

They haven’t reached happiness and financial security at that age.

The only reason why.

The governments keep them in the childlike state of not having everything they could want; etc.

Needy people will be greedy people. Sometimes. 👐

Needy people will also be sour (jealous) people. Often times than none.

As I always say, room to change and opportunity to grow, but as far as your question goes- this is why it is the way it is at current standing.

While people have some measure of individual responsibility, we can thank the elites. They pushed a sense of entitlement on the Millennials to the max, coddled them by promoting helicopter parenting, and then got them deep into debt and wrecked the real earning potential of most people. So no surprise there are a whole lot of grasping, unhappy Millennials. And this is another reason for me to say of the elites: Clear them out!

You're not a millennial. You're generation Z. Millennial were born between 1981-1996. Generation Z is highly envious. Envy is the driving emotion of communism/social justice. They see someone with something they don't have and they want it, so they feel it is appropriate to rob that person of their things/position to "even the playing field".
