people just won't do anything unless it benefits them or if they do it's for their pleasure or justification or it doesn't cost anything or cost almost nothing for them. otherwise they don't do anything. and they are snobby and arrogant and boastful of what they did from the fraction of the things that they have. I don't see any help for anything other than absolute nothingness?

True. And not true. What you have to do, what we all have to do, is look for the good in people. If you focus on the negative, you will easily find it. There is ugliness and selfishness and all the things you mentioned. But there are also small and quiet moments of great kindness. They should not be overlooked.
