Why do most of the Republicans not take the January 6 insurrection seriously?

remember, the FBI called this a terrorist attack. They say they are pro law-enforcement, but they don’t support those brave heroes, who helped defend democracy from an unruly mob.

Because a small group of nonviolent would-be rioters isn't actually a major threat to democracy. Lone nuts aren't reflective of entire political movements, as anyone who hasn't fallen into the ideological thrall of the "Orange Man Bad" crowd.

The media hypes it like it's the end of the world, but they hate Trump like nobody's business, and that hatred extends to anything connected with him. Catch is, you can only call the most liberal Republican presidential candidate of my lifetime a "fascist" so many times before people start to doubt you, and when you keep crying wolf over a buffalo, eventually people are going to stop paying attention to you at all.

Because the insurrection was the point. The point is to overthrow the government and install a dictatorship. It has been stated over and over again, the plan was to overturn the election, to install fake electors, to stop the certification of the vote, to claim the election was stolen, etc.

And from now on every election, they lose, they will claim was stolen from them.

It’s because they agree with what happened. The political right has shifted towards fascism and using disinformation and violence to thwart the democratic process has become palatable to them. Power by any means necessary. The GOP and a large chunk of their voting base is now a threat to the constitution.

Why don't most Democrats even remember the rioting in DC after the 2016 election and the massive property destruction and casualties by BLM after George Floyd? Both were much worse.

Because it was not an insurrection. It was a riot at most. Democrats blew it out of proportion bacayse they are afraid that President Trump will run again. This time they will not be able to rig the election.
