They didn't get so upset when the BLM riots resulted in people murdered merely for being white, or businesses destroyed and looted, but they get bent out of shape over a sit-in. They're basically toddlers who've been propagandised so much that in their minds they're fighting "Nazis". Everyone who disagrees with them is a Nazi, and whenever they don't get their political way Hitler rises again. They're just that hysterical.

Its not the "sit in" that is the issue or even the damage they caused, its the attempt to overthrow the system of Democracy. Say what you want about BLM but they never tried to violently take over the government and destroy the country of USA.

@Syntosi Nah, they got waved through and other than one of them getting shot to death, the violence never reached BLM levels. It was little more than a sit-in protest over-egged by the media. Meanwhile, during the BLM riots, of which there have been numerous riots and not just in the US, the violence and looting have been a consistent feature. Neither is commendable, but it's become a team game now, an 'us vs them'. The media hasn't helped with that one either. Remember George Floyd? Of course you do. Remember Tony Timpa? Where was the media then?

The reason why January 6th is different is not because of violence or vandalism, its because they tried to stop the process of the transfer of power from Trump to Biden and also to capture and potentially murder government officials.

Its a disorganized mob. Some wanted to just apprehend officials to physically restrain them from performing the official transfer of power where as others intended to murder groups or specific individuals. Depending on who got to whom first would decide what outcome it would have been.

@Syntosi I suppose that's a bit like the BLM crowds. Some wanted to steal and loot, others wanted to murder anyone white (and they did), but most were just protesting what they saw as bias/corruption. All of them were to some degree misled by biased or untrue information from media outlets of one form or another. I remember how much coverage George Floyd got, and don't recall seeing anything about the Tony Timpa case for instance.

That is nothing like BLM. Even if you want to argue that some wanted to loot and others wanted to murder anyone white, that is not comparable to overthrowing the institutions of government power.

I don't see that this means that the majority of both crowds were not substantially the same in their intentions to protest what they saw as corruption, which is the point I was making.

Yes. Normal criminals are slightly lower on the "bad people" list than people posing an existential risk to the country. Glad we are on the same page.

@Syntosi Existential risk... Nah. There's always people like that, for instance the guy who tried to assassinate Trump. Same principle. These other guys just happened to be part of a larger protest and didn't get as far.

The fact that the security did not let them get that far did not mean that it was not their intentions.

No. It was a (poorly organized) attempt to overthrow the US government. Just because it was done by a bunch of idiots does not mean that it was not an actual attack on the country.

@incorrected Nope. I happen to believe in institutions more than mob rule. Historically speaking, revolutions of the violent kind almost never works out for the group that starts them or for the nations best interest.

I like that you're consistent about that. And I agree that revolutions and revolutionaries are generally misguided. I think they generally mean well, but that's beside the point. :)
