Why is it taking so long to jail Trump over the January 6 Insurrection?

Well, the DoJ has only just begun it’s investigation. The congressional committee seemed to serve more to just make the public aware of the goings on of that day and all that led up to it, and to recommend investigative action by the DoJ. If Trump had walked into the Capitol and shot someone, this is easier to handle.

It’s difficult because we’re dealing with a group of people who were actively, deliberately, and continuously lied to BY Trump, but they were the ones who committed the acts of aggression and/or civil disobedience. I may think those people are foolish to have fallen for it, but once you get past that and you HAVE fallen for it, I can understand where some people would be fighting mad over this particular lie that was sold to them.

Trump and his cronies are ultimately to blame for the whole event, but managed to keep his hands relatively clean from a legal standpoint on the surface. Others carried out what he wanted done. I’d assume it’s legally much more difficult to prove someone compelled strangers they’ve never personally met to do something illegal. Furthermore, I think the way an attorney has to approach this is “carefully”, because you want to close any potential loopholes where a mistrial could be declared or anything like that.

I think he will see an indictment, but it’s just a matter of if the government has the balls to upset the apple cart and go after a politician whose career is still active. Very tough to do that without being accused of partisanship, and you KNOW that will be the go-to reason to dismiss the whole thing because the followers trained to spout buzzwords like “witch hunt” at any attempt to hold the guy accountable. I don’t know that prison will be the end result, I wouldn’t get my hopes up for that just because that would cause more uproar than it might be worth. Crazy time to be alive, that’s for sure.

That whole voting for speaker of the house fiasco tells the whole story. We got 20 people holding our entire government up as hostage, that openly want to over throw our democracy.
