The hijra (eunuch/transvestite) is an institutionalized third gender role in India. Hijra are neither male nor female, but contain elements of both. But in India they are treated with respect because of the blessings they give. No one dares to disrespect them. Whenever there's a good news in the family, like birth of child, wedding etc, they come to give blessings.

In most of SE Asia they are seen as freaks. That being said, in many of the SE Asia countries the prettiest “girls” have male packages 📦. The developing world is especially this way.
