"Kill him with kindness" is a practical way to demonstrate one who has a higher moral ground. If someone wrongs you, the best thing that one can do is extend kindness, patients, and control their emotion. One in this position appears more adult right and is perceived as more reliable.

The other participant looks like an A-Hole with an unnecessary chip on his/her shoulder. Basically, you made the other one look like a fool by simply being kind. Do NOT come of as snotty or better than the other one.
