1.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's self-evident. A gun is just a tool - no different than a hammer or a pipe wrench or a drill, or even a car. By itself, it's completely harmless. A loaded gun can sit on a shelf for a thousand years and will never hurt anyone. A gun is only dangerous in the hands of a human, and while a gun is more efficnent, plenty of tools are deadly in the hands of a human.
If I poisoned someone, no one would blame poison, they would blame me. If I beat someone to death with a baseball bad, no one would blame Louisville Slugger, they would blame me. If I ran someone over with my car, no one would blame Ford, they would blame me. If I stabbed someone 15 times and killed them, no one would blame knives, they would blame me. If I cave in someone's skull with a brick, no one talks about banning bricks. So why is it that if I shot someone, many people would be blaming the gun, and not the murderer who wielded it?
The answer to that is self-evident, but it's also inconvenient to those who blame the gun: it's politically motivated, rather than being a rational decision. Those who blame the gun do so because they don't want people being able to defend themselves with deadly force - and the reason they care is because they very much want to control people with force that THEY control, and don't want people to be able to resist that control. Most don't realize that almost none of them will be among the elite who will be making the decisions - rather, they'll be among the slaves who have no control over their lives and no way to assert their rights. They imagine themselves being in control - being the elite - but they won't be. The person who will be in control will be someone who is utterly ruthless, and it won't go well for them.

1 yIt's flawed. Guns don't kill people... people kill people with guns is more accurate.

1 yIf people kill people then it's illogical to give them the tools to make it really easy. What moron thought hey let's make a weapon any idiot on a bad mood can use to kill someone 50 yards away and make them available to people you wouldn't trust with nail clippers.

1 yThere are many guns that were never meant to be in the hands of civilians. The USA constitution states "right to bear arms". It does not say "right to access to every gun ever made ever". No civilian needs an assault rifle. None.
Getting the first gun should be really hard. Then easier to add guns. But I have seen that if you put up some simple things like taking classes and mandating a certain amount of time at the range (like they do with CPL's), that many don't bother. They also need very tough laws to hold people who get the gun responsible for them, regardless of who uses them. If you allow the wrong person to use the gun, it is on you.
And I am a hunter and a concealed weapons permit holder. not just some person that doesn't like guns.11 ReplyTell these MAGA goobers and gooberettes that, godfatherfan ! They'll call you a Communist, among other things.
What kills people when an earthquake hits? Using the same logic as the phrase means that we can't answer this question, despite the answer being obvious.
It is clear that falling debris or other inanimate objects are killing people in an earthquake. Therefore, guns kill people in the same way. A human can use a gun to kill people. This does not need to be a complex issue.
I think the point of the phrase is that a gun on its own won't kill anyone (which is an argument for gun ownership), but it seems redundant to point that out since we are only concerned with the cases in which a human has the gun (which makes it significantly easier to kill people obviously).

1 yI think a lot of people got distracted by the guns and ended up getting killed by the experimental vaccine. See how that works... Media: Be afraid of the guns... Hyper focus on guns... Live in fear... meanwhile they stroke your ego and give you this shot and tell you it's safe and effective and people start dropping like flies all over the world...

People kill people and those who order the hit often tell the killers and the victims that it's for the greater good...

A person can use anything to kill another. Guns just make it easier and less personal, like using a knife or an ax.

It's a weapon that has no bias, the gun owners that kill

1 yIt is the same when people use cars a two-ton bullet to run over people who go the wrong way on a highway and drive drunk it is not the gun that kills, it is the person behind the gun the same with cars. Cars do not kill it is the driver behind the wheel that kills with a car. guns do not decide to kill it is the PERSON behind the gun who kills
10 Reply 3.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's a throw away line to ignore the damage a weapon could cause.
Here let me change it for you 'Nukes don't kill people, people kill people.' so let's give everyone nukes and not think about the damage that would cause.10 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
1 yIt's an absolute fact as there has in all modern time been one incident where a gun jumped up by itself and shot someone. Always some human forcing that gun to fire.

1 yfalse, guns do kill people... there are accidents.
somewhat true in other ways and guns that hold a lot of bullets at times, kill more than was possible back when a gun was a single shot.
note

People aren't shooting bullets out their hands, and as many people die from knife crime as well.

1 yHighly logical.
Dad had a rifle in the corner for decades and, never once did it sneak out of the house and kill somebody but, I kept an eye on it just in case!!10 Reply 11K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Stupid. It's the bullet and cavitation that kills. Humans have the intent, the gun carries it out, the bullet does the damage

overall the problem isn't the weapon but the mental health of those who wield it
20 Reply3.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. As Daniela1982 said. I either have the laziest guns around. Or I have taught them to behave and not to go around hurting people without just cause.

I think very few guns have killed anyone. It's that hunk of lead traveling at nearly 2000 miles per hour. We need to ban lead! :)
4.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's stupid. Yes, guns don't kill people, but people with guns do, and it makes it a hell of a lot easier.
