NYC is terrible to find a bathroom. The city could issue free cards for homeless people to go to public facilities, so they can track who uses what and provide jobs for immigrants. Doesn't mean they will use them, but if they don't, they get in trouble. Real estate is expensive, but that's cheaper than losing the whole city.
If people are incompetent to use the bathroom, then they are locked up in facilities, preferably in some far off place where they can get closer to nature, until they get better.
There's no perfect answer... but stepping on humans in the Chase ATM room isn't gonna work... nor is shutting down the ATM's. we have a human problem...
Public facilities? You don't need a card to use the bathroom in public buildings. Restaurants, stores, hotels, etc. are not public buildings. They don't allow bathroom use by the general public for good reason. Homeless addicts use restrooms for shooting galleries, contaminating them with hazardous drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine that could cause serious injury to other people. It's not uncommon for addicts to overdose and die in restrooms. Private businesses can't afford to clean up after addicts.
that's the problems. In Europe, you pay and there is an attendant. NYC needs jobs for people and they have a "poopy head problem" and general lack of bathrooms. I see potential solution to marry the two...
"In Europe, you pay" That's great for those who can pay. In Seattle, we just take care of it in the businesses we patronize -- going for coffee, or to a bar or restaurant? They have a restroom for their patrons.
we have that here, but often they lock them up.
That's why I noted to give people a free card... it's free, and we can track them if they mis behave:)
