I used to have a pen pal using Yahoo E-mail even back in 2003 when I was 19. That was fun but it didn't last. Her name was MegaLou. She was nice. At the same time honestly, your daughter should be careful because you really never know who you are talking with. I believed she was legitimately her age, and she was who she said she was but still... Pen pals are kinda boring if you asked me. It doesn't really go anywhere because it's like a long-distance relationship. Sooner or later, you're gonna have to meet in person and see if there really IS any compatibility there. Otherwise, it's just screen to screen and it's not really something that's in fashion anymore. I mean compared to like message boards and all that stuff. Our "relationship" lasted only a few months. Maybe others (maybe those smarter than me or luckier?) are able to make those things last but I had my reservations back then honestly and so yeah...

My daughter has chatted to her American friend from America for years, both are similar ages so have grown up together via the Web, they are like a pair of old women honest to god... they even send each other Christmas and birthday presents... They met on some anime art drawing website thing... Penpals isn't like before it's all Web based and if your kid has a hobby she enjoys sign up to something online and get chatting on it... Obv vet who she's talking to first

Ps be warned, my other daughter also had a pen pal from America, she had travelled from america to Scotland and showed up at my door with her mum.. I was mortified.. Its funny now but then I could've killed my daughter

There is nothing like exchanging hand written letters. You can actually feel the expressions of the person writing. And then, rhere is so much sentimental value to holding on to those letter for decades.
