It says you're going from Stafford Platform 1 to Nuneaton Platform 5.
That isn't a change of platforms in the same station. That is going from platform 1 in one station to platform 5 in another.
And honestly it is just a guide. In a lot of bigger stations the platform you end up going to or from can change.
When you get to the station, there should be some displays hanging up in clear view which indicate the trains that are coming and going, their estimated arrival times, and the platforms they're stopping at. That is probably more reliable than what you have now.
Nuneaton is your final destination, or is that where you're changing trains?
I don't know what the "estimated" after the platform number means.
I feel I'd understand it better if you posted it showing all the stops along with your departing and final destination.
I'm a little confused myself. I've traveled by train before, but it's always been a direct route.
Nuneaton is the final destination x
Then it's just saying that it drops you off at Platform 5
It's perfectly normal to feel confused with your first train journey. Train platforms can vary between trips due to scheduling and availability. If your return journey shows the same platform at Stafford, it likely means no change between trains at that station. If you need to switch platforms, signs and announcements at the station will guide you. Always check the station screens and ask staff if you're unsure. Travelling gets easier with experience, so don't worry!

Assuming this is no buggy info, what I'm reading here is that your train is going from Stafford to Stafford in a VERY short amount of time. Could it be that there are two train stations in Stafford? If not, then it can only be incorrect info to me.
I know you've found out by now, but it looks to me like you arrive at Stafford, platform 1, wait 10 minutes for the next train on platform 1 that goes to Nuneaton, and arrives in Nuneaton on platform 5.
Whats that? X
Sorry, German national trains website: http://bahn.de/ It works for British trains, too. (You'll need to translate it, and you can't buy tickets there, but the information is quite readable.)
You should be able to talk with someone at the ticket booth at your departure station, who can help you. Or, there should be a Help Point at the station where you can push a button to talk with someone who can clarify what you need to do.
It means you arrive on platform 5 but exit, no transfer.
I'd say you are just someone unused to trains. I know nothing about UK so can't help.
Guess it's a change of train
Probably the first is a fast service that skips certain stops and the other is slower and does every stop
It is just a change of train.
Follow the directions you're given
You're right, it's totally confusing.
