If everyone on Earth had technology that simulated superpowers like he wanted, would that really make the people born with superpowers normal? Even if he killed all supers, would that still make everyone equal? Rich people would probably still have more power, right? And more supers would presumably be born anyway later from non-super parents. And that's if there were even enough resources to make gadgets for ALL humans. And what about the Amish, those cannibals on that one island, and other people who would 100% refuse to get gadgets to give them powers?

If Syndrome had said one of those terms- he’d be wrong because not everyone is wealthy and not all are physically peaked.

I definitely agree that Syndrome's logic was flawed and clouded by his desire for revenge and his unstable mindset he had as a child for the reasons you mentioned. And everyone is definitely special by your own definition.

But when use certain definitions, no not everyone is special, and for me, only SOME people are special. Most rich people are selfish and take advantage of others, so the ones who aren't are special. Most celebrities (athletes, actors, and some others) are self-righteous, out of touch asshats, so the ones who aren't are special. And mosy people have very little drive or willpower, so the ones who do are special. Most genres of fiction literally thrive on telling stories about SPECIAL people and events, not ordinary. And if superhumans existed, they'd be special whether or not every other human being had gadgets to imitate those powers. Whitney Houston was special, but I'm not special just because I can voice-modulate to sound like her. Does my logic make sense?

Makes sense. I think what Syndrome missed is that he not only missed the whole poi t of like is to focus on what makes each of us special and how to make that work best for everyone. Because he didn't get that, he didn't see that he could've planned on being a hero from the time Mr. Incredible rejected him. He couldve planned from that point to make gadgets to help himself save people as an adult, to help supers save people, to help protect police and firefighters, etc. So you have a point that if someone couldve fixed his watped perspective, his life mightve turned out much better. But it makes you wonder how much effort we should put into trying to help people like him because it's hard to know if they'll even listen.

Mr. Incredible told buddy (maybe not in the best sense), but told him he worked alone, and buddy never really respected that.

I’m sure he told him multiple times he handled crime himself.

Buddy wouldn’t even hear his logic and when he didn’t understand why Mr. Incredible didn’t use his “amazing” gadgets, he continued to fuel his own idea, just with an different outlook on it.

Buddy was always going to make the gadgets.

He wanted approval and recognition- maybe he lacked that at home.

He for some reason tried to obtain that by COPYING someone else, in his own way.

Whether he would’ve simply evolved ‘heroism,’ or if it all was a sick case of lacking individuality, is for people and viewers to decide. Despite it, I just know he could not listen and it was linked to… most likely some cause of pain or sense of inadequacy.

Villains do have their origin stories, we just never see the full- behind-the-scenes story of Buddy/ Syndrome.

None of us really understand why he was alone at night sneaking into other people’s vehicles- having all the this time to make contraptions, and even talking himself to an isolated island.

He even was willing to sacrifice mirage for himself.

Mirage had saw what she wanted in that relationship.

Despite his past- he grew and unfortunately developed into a defined narcissist/ sociopath.

I can only think it was from neglect in childhood, his inability to find joy in his own hobbies and be satisfied with self, and he just never has the right mental conditioning- though unnecessary, would have been helpful to steer him away from that lifestyle earlier on.

Many do alter the course of their whole lives, by the simple trigger of an emotion, which will fuel a perspective. I mean, he changed his whole life based off of an emotion, and he couldn’t get out of his emotions to think clearly- like you mentioned.

How many non-narcissistic people- in the world, build their whole lives around moments or a single moment in time, where they just felt something negative and couldn’t get past it?

Indeed. And yes, I'd like to know more about his home life and his parents. Because it's entirely possible his parents were the main reason he turned out that way. But it'd also be interesting to see how someone with good parents could still turn out like him! I mean, my grandmother and her brothers were all raised the same, but she is a kindergarten teacher with her life together, while one of her brothers was a drug addict and nasty person, and the other brother has had alcohol and gambling addictions. Some people just make bad choices. And maybe we'll never know what the case was with ole Buddy. And maybe that's the point. Maybe the point is that it doesn't matter WHY people are hurting people; they just have to be stopped.

Yeah. That's a logically necessary conclusion. Special things are special because they have some characteristic that elevates them above other things. If everything is elevated; that new elevation becomes the standard.

Exactly. But even then, there is the issue of if anything can ever actually be standard. We can come up with certai standards for things to meet, and we can havr plenty of things that are most common, but certain things can never be shared and equal among EVERYONE. Even our senses aren't all calibrated the same or as sensitive as each other's. Some of us are taller and have other inequalities. Even clones wouldn't be exactly the same. So is his logic fine in theory but flawed in practice because it is impossible for everyone to be super?

That makes him special among human beings and among 6'6" guys since most of them are anywhere near as fast and athletic as him. That'd make him special whether or not he got paud millions for it. But he's also a pretty dumb human being, whereas I'm extremely intelligent, so I am special in that way. But if I became obsessed with trying to even the playing field whrn I play him in basketball, I'd be wasting my time.
