How can anyone respect or take the Ukrainian president seriously when he doesn't even bother to wear a suit?

Couldn´t care less if he wears a suit or not. Many politicians that wear suits are just clowns or narcissts. It´s not like that would make any politician work more professional.
I´d assume the T-shirt is part of a military uniform since there are the symbols of the Ukrainian army on it. So it´s not like he just a sports attire or something similar.
Putin probably doesn´t respect many other politicians that wear a suit. So I don´t think that´s the sole reason he doesn´t respect Zelensky.
Because he's worth 200 million, has a mansion in Florida and has made bad decision after bad decision, since selling his country up the river.
He knows he's in the same boat as Saddam Hussein. But is owning it by trying to look like Rambo "fighting" the Soviets.
What fucking difference would it make if he was to wear a suit... I can't see that fucking murdering, mentally deranged despot Putin waving a fucking white flag.
The man who has literally been fighting in the war is not respected because he doesn't conform to your idea of professional? 💀
Last I heard he sends out his pussified men out to do his dirty work instead and they still lose. Russia is better and the men there are actually men.
Interesting that you support a political side that willfully takes your rights away.
You support people being forced to fight, killed for fleeing, and hiding?
What rights are being taken away from me?
Also that problem has nothing do with other countries

It's a political signal, the T-shirt he frequently wears is emblazoned with the Cross of Ukraine, an emblem of the country’s armed forces. He wishes to display wartime conditions, but he does where a suite when it serves his purpose.
I'd be more concerned about the corruption surrounding the vast unaudited sums of money being sent to Ukraine (we pay their government salaries and pensions), including likely kickbacks to US officials and politicians as well as what is being stolen by members of the Ukrainian government. Did you know that Zelensky also banned any political opposition?
I couldn't care less if he wears a suit or not. If I was president I wouldn't wear a suit because it sucks wearing them.
When I was still working I was very reluctant to work in an office where anyone wore suits, including the owner, CEO, president, etc.
Why would anyone take him seriously if he DID? As you yourself noted, his country's getting bombed to pieces; why the hell would anyone care about wearing the obligatory "you don't exist as an individual, but as an interchangeable gear in the machine of society" outfit? I'd respect him less if he did that.
Priorities, man.
I couldn't care less what he wears, to be honest, though if he were actually in a position in which his life was under imminent threat, he should be wearing a plate carrier or at least a flak vest too. There's a lot of theater involved in how he presents himself.
Because he is fighting a war. And it does not get any more serious than that. How many times has your guy Putin been to the front to encourage his troops?
Yeah he doesn't shave or wear something more formal although it doesn't really take much time to do so Lol... I guess he needs to keep his badass, the people's champ persona going... Which is good actually.. When fighters and supporters see him like that they find him more relatable and less " corporate head in suit who doesn't give a damn about his employees " vibes...
Honestly, there are other reasons to not take him seriously, aside from his outfit. Just listen to how the guy talks. He sounds like a drunk and clearly lacks an education. I've never heard the guy compose a coherent sentence. He's almost as bad as Biden. And the way he addresses the press and foreign delegations is so cocky. He acts like he's entitled to other countries' money and weapons. The fact that so many people and nations are behind him is genuinely concerning.
He has made a decision to dress and present himself as a wartime president. I think it works. He reminds me of Grant wearing an old private’s coat, unbuttoned.
He's obviously trying to create an image. Being the only one not in a suit makes him stand our in photos.
He wants to be the center of attention
It's not a bad strategy. People focus on features not faces. It's why Churchill always had a big cigar and Hitler that famous moustache. Even today people instantly recognise them in photos.
That's a good point
I never took him seriously even when he did wear a suit. The guy's a clown, always has been, always shall be.
I agree. People are so blind and naiive.
Why would a suit be such a big deal? Maybe things could be worked out better if all these guys got together in a room completely naked and had a real dick-wagging contest!
Walking around the White House with sweatpants last month shows how much he respects the American people who have given him billions. Uhh...
It is a marketing strategy. He is posing like a "regular dude" that is close to people, and not some fancy, millinaire that has a big-ass suit and a few watches.
This makes more electors feeling connection to him.
He is not taken seriously because he just set his parents up in a mansion. Most people realize he is skimming off the top.
I respect him a damned sight more than some other leaders!
I have no problem with what he wears, he's holding up quite well given what he and country going through.
A suit? He should be wearing a uniform and fighting the war with the rest of the soliders.
Only a idiot fights a war while some other dude is back home eating a meal and having sex with his wife as both Putin and this airhead does.
He is at war and a war time president. You do not wear a suit when your country is at war.
Agreed. He's trying to create a Che Guevara cult of personality around himself but it has grown stale. Hope I spelled Guevara correctly and if not, shout out to his family.
