What do you think of shortened English?

Like using little for little and summin for something etc... I think it makes people sound uneducated

I think it's gobbledygook. I grew up in the computer age but wasn't exposed to shortened text and posting expressions until after high school. There was definitely a learning curve for me. Some examples:

WDYM - is that a radio station or what?

ASL - I thought that was a short form of "asshole"

HBU - what school is that, Henry Bolton University

Now I use a few, but mostly limited to IRL and WTF. I'd rather use real words.

short forms aren't half bad but nowadays i see people coming with new short forms. i recently heard the craziest one - "yt" (it does not stand for youtube, it stands for whites)

I am not a native, so l don t know how it s sounds in English. It may be true. However in my mother tongue ıt sounds like that. As if they are not well-educated.

An occasional shortened word is fine with me. Anything more than that typically means the writer is lazy.

Notice English people g drop a lot. Don't mind it that much, not like other speakers dont have their quirks.

Depends on the situation. If used in casual conversation, it's fine. If used in professional settings, it's not appropriate.

My pet peeve is people using verbs as nouns and vice versa, abusing singular and plural nouns and not using, a, an and the to preface a noun
