Former British Prime Minister was born in New York City, which makes him eligible to be the US President.

Do you think Boris should run for US President in 2024. He might be a better choice than some of the candidates who plan to run. He certainly has experience running a country.

I don't think he can be right now. Article II Executive Branch Section 1 Function and Selection Clause 5 Qualifications No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. ======= It's that last part; he would have to have lived in the USA for 14 years prior to being President.

I don't think he can run at all. He must live in the US for at least 14 years before considering this position, and he's only lived here 5 or 6 years. Also, he renounced his US citizenship awhile back, so it would take years for him to become naturalized again. On the other side of the spectrum, I have acquaintances in the UK who really dislike him for things he's done.

I REALLY wish the US Supreme Court would address the eligibility issue. It comes up over and over. At first glance it seems clear. But there have been too many times when potential candidates are in a grey area. Not that he would run, but Johnson would be a grey area. The courts really need to rule on this between election years when it doesn't have an effect on a current election.

The states could do it also. They could make their own rules about who can run in their state. It amazes me how lax the rules are at the state level. For that matter, the parties could make rules on it. If it gets challenged, then good. That will force it up the ladder.

I never got on the whole birth certificate bandwagon with Obama. But it totally amazed me that states did not require a birth certificate to be put on the ballot. Proof of eligibility should be required from the very start.
