The trouble with true Anarchy is it never last long. Its very nature allows anyone to become the force (Goverment) and inevitably many do some more successfully than others.
Those most successful almost always end the anarchy by establishing the most primitive form of goverment Oligarchy.
They then tend to continue their war with others until such time that stale mate is reached and accepted along geographic lines establishing new Governments which eventually define new States.
I'm more of a smallest government as possible kinda guy. I am anarchic to a degree where I can make it work.
A Good stable successful but temporary Anarchy would be the perfect groundwork pre-state in my opinion.
@williampamer446 That is the dream of free men, to build an empire not of power but liberty.
Where power exist for no propose than to suppress other power in preserving that liberty. The founders tried to build a system of checks and balances to do something like that.
Unfortunately and perhaps inevitably after 200 years like any system run by men driven to power (politicians) it became corrupted. to serve said mean's dream of power over other men.
If you wish to restore any part of it we must restore the competitive system of interests that held power in check.
I agree. Maybe america could benefit by being an Anarchic State or a Libertarian State for awhile. I think the corrupt institutions like the CIA and the FBI need to be abolished, and create new things. Allow for vigilantism or community protectors like a real life superhero kinda thing, however they gotta act creatively in certain circles and they can't like abuse people and stuff they would have rules they create for themself and they would answer to the people. Abolish the federal reserve. Make our money backed by gold again. Slowly rebuild systems with Good people in power. Social issues could be fixed this way. For example, autistic and adhd people could be respected over time more because we could use our gifts.
You can abolish all federal LEO's like the FBI, ATF, EPA, and intelligence organizations like CIA.
Such would hardly effect American Law enforcement which is still 90% + handled by State and local governments. We might create new intelligence sharing services and contract commercial criminal lab services currently provided by the FBI but that is it.
There is no need for any new vigilantism or community protectors as they would at best replace incompetent or unavailable local governments. Frankly if you want that kind of freedom there are plenty of places out in the middle of no where that would tolerate it.
As for currency, think what currency really is and you might realize we need only tweak tax sales/income laws to allow people to have any currency they want. Most states are moving in this direction with regard to gold and silver currently.
Some states like Texas and Utah actually allow you to bank in Gold & silver if you like.
Those particular metals however are by no means your only or best options they simply happen to be the only do which we can reinforce with tender laws and constrain Washington on via Article 1 Section 10 Clause 1 tender clause.
No. Hence why none have been around.
But technically, every outlaw and convict is a "member" of the "anarchic society". Mainly as their actions have ruled them out of whatever society they are living in.
On a smaller scale with the right people, yeah sure. But never a full nation or world.

Small scale, probably. Large scale, no. Not without a seismic shift in society that transforms it into something we can't find outside of science fiction or whatever.
There are plenty of lovely examples of failed states. Maybe you should try living in one.
