Black people only: what is your opinion on black separatism?

Disclaimer: the question is aimed only at members of the black community. If you are non-black, you may still answer as this is a public platform, but we will take your answer with a grain of salt as you aren't the target audience.

I used to think that integration would solve black problems, especially during the height of the 2020 summer protests after George Floyd was killed by the MPD and I saw people of all ethnicities protesting together for the same cause. As of recent, I started to learn more about why no anti-lynching bill has been passed or anti-black hate crime bill by the same democrats the black community is so loyal to.

Although white folks were the main contributors to anti-blackness, Asians and Latinos also had a lot of anti-blackness in their culture that they don't let go off when they move to the west. I became aware that the "black and brown coalition" was a farce, and that was evident the audio recordings that were leaked from the LA city council of its Latinos members being anti-black. I began to learn that these "POCs" aren't for the cause of fighting white supremacy, rather they like to be absorbed into the dominant society rather than side with black people, but only do so when they face problems. They want the best of both worlds. Problems at the border? Call Black folks. White supremacists being xenophobic to them? Call black people! The minute they are treated well, they forget about us.

The "white allies" aren't any better either. A lot of them are condescending and think they know better, but do not want to push for Black American reparations because they think it's "divisive". And finally, the conservative white folks are the driver of white supremacy in America and are the force behind the wickedness that exists, and a lot of them already are on this website.

To my black brothers and sisters, what's your opinion? Do you think I'm justified in thoughts, or do you think I'm taking it too far?

If you look at the most successful groups, you will find that within that group there are usually winners and losers. Everybody isn't at the top or well off. So even if black americans separated it would not solve the problems that those at the bottom complain about. It's fool's gold for those at the bottom to chase after but it only actually benefits the people at the top who will claim to care so much for you while living in their 20+ million dollar mansion with servants and fleet of luxury cars.

If you look at black people from Africa who migrate to the U. S., many of them do well or extremely well. Thomas Sowell has talked about how black American kids raised (by black families) in Germany were 100% competitive and did just as well in school as the native Germans because the German teachers and society had high expectations/requirements. Contrast that to putting a kid in a school where everyone says, 'poor baby, you're a victim and its unfair for you to face any challenges in life'. We see the results everywhere.

By the way, I come from a family of successful black people and growing up our circle of friends were similar types of people. We never bought into the idea that we needed white people to do anything for us. Hard work pays off, despite what whiners say -- in my experience.

Are you a Black immigrant? If yes, your situation is different. If not, then you're either a self-hating black native, or a white man posing as a black man.

African immigrants with all due respect to them get to start from a clean slate when they move to another country. Do they face racism? Absolutely. However, it's not generational. Therefore, they are definitely going to be more likely to accomplish more if they started from ground zero.

Black Americans who grew up in America have been sabotaged every step of the way, even when they BUILT towns and cities. Countless massacres by angry white mobs over black folks making progress, most notable is the Tulsa massacre. Not only that, white-owned banks continued to use their racist loaning practices LONG after the Civil Rights movement, as recently as 2015. The proof is in the pudding, and Google is free.

Education, Healthcare and the black family structure (abortion rights movement) are other issues as well. So, having said all of that you can see why someone who didn't live through all of this would end up doing better, wouldn't you? All this bs "you're just playing victim" narrative is exactly white a white supremacist would say. My whole life I've been exceptional, so this isn't about myself. This is about my people. I will not allow myself to be used as an "exceptional negro" to further push an anti-black agenda that black people only have themselves to blame. Just because it works for someone on the micro level, doesn't mean that can be applied on the macro level, and I think that separatism is the solution to that. When we are in control of our own resources, we are going to be more capable of helping ourselves.

History isn't fair. Life isn't fair. Deal with it. There's no time machine or magic wand to fix the past. If someone mistreats you TODAY, I will side with you against that. If you want to whine about stuff that happened long ago and use it as an excuse to explain why somebody is broke, I'm not buying it cause my parents were dirt poor & grew up under Jim Crow laws. They didn't focus on the negatives or play victim. They became successful.. for their generation. And their kids became much more successful. And no, they didn't hand their kids cash or property either. They did teach good lessons like working hard, and going around obstacles instead of focusing on whining.

But you believe what you want to. From my POV you want some kind of communist/socialistic system which you think will improve life. As a successful person I support capitalism and I always have.. even when I only had dreams and not a pot to piss in.

1) You're free to not respond, but don't give me that "so I took the time to write down a reply" nonsense. You chose to write an answer which I found ridiculous, so I responded by telling you that it was ridiculous. Simple as that. There was no insult given, and my claim that you're either self-hating or a white man was based off your answer. I don't know you personally, neither do I have an agenda against you.

2) The whole "life ain't fair" is used as an excuse for white folks to take zero accountability. I gave a solution already, that's what this whole piece was about, separatism. Jim Crow was a time where Black people were hung from trees for even looking wrong at a white person, but at the very least they had their own banks and schools that they ran by themselves (not to say that there was no interference from white supremacists because there was plenty). Nowadays after integration, it's like all of a sudden we're supposed to just ignore our problems because we're "legally equal" under the law, even though in practice that doesn't happen.

Also, I don't know where you got the impression that I'm a "socialist" from. Sounds like a word that's thrown too loosely these days that people who don't know what it means.

You said I must be white/lying... you're just like Joe Biden when he claimed that if you don't vote for him you must not be black. This is a political ploy to try and control a conversation. The truth is that all black people don't think alike... it is *racist* who think all black people think the same but I get it... most people don't want to think too deeply.

"Jim Crow was a time where Black people were hung from trees for even looking wrong at a white person," - and? Every people on earth had periods of extreme hardships, mass murders, you name it. The difference is that the successful people in those groups aren't claiming that they're failures TODAY because of what someone did to them yesterday. You can say it's "white" all you want, but the fact is that there are successful strategies and unsuccessful ones. And anyhow, the idea of "white people" did not even exist prior to the late 1700s. For the vast majority of human history nobody was thinking like that. People cared most about where they were born and whether they had shared cultural ideas. They would kill someone who looked 'white' just as quick as someone who looked 'black' if their goals were too opposed.

I already told you that my life is an example that you can overcome struggles. I already told you that my family is doing great as well. I'm no different from you in that regard. However, I see folks who despite trying their best they don't get anywhere. This isn't about "complaining about something that was done in the past" rather its about understanding how we got here to begin with, because this seems to have had a cumulative effect. The race wealth gap was created not from jobs, but from real estate. Properties that were given to white people back in the 1950s are worth far more today than they were worth back then and if you start out on a plus, you will be in a plus. On the other hand, loan denials to black investors have started back then and even continue today despite a decent credit score, so our people have always had to deal with unnecessary setbacks when we didn't do anything to deserve it. You claim that the best solution is to "suck it up" like that's gonna do something, like working in the same system that put us through slavery and Jim Crow is supposed to somehow save us if we just worked harder. Success comes from a triad of opportunity, hard work and the right connections. You cannot have success through simply "working hard" if you don't know anyone who can vouch for you and you are not being given an opportunity to succeed. Nobody is asking for equal outcomes, rather equal chances which is a hit or miss. Success may come to individuals in our community, but it cannot come to the whole group so we certainly will not be changing anything by following your idea.

Also, the whole "successful black people get VIP treatment" is another lie. You will still be reminded that you're Black, and you will have to kiss ass to get to that point where you are successful where they can take it away from you at anytime. Look at what they did to Kanye or Kyrie Irving. These folks are SO QUICK to remind you who you are, and they will take all of it away from you if you disagree with one thing they say. As long as you're being a good pet, they will make you rich.

Finally, the idea of "white" did not start in the 1700s. You should go read about the first 20 enslaved Africans that were captured from Angola and you will find out that they made that concept of race as soon as that ship landed on Virginia.

No, Asians and Latinos don't integrate. Want proof? They speak their own languages and spread their cultural practices in America like cuisine and business practices. Why does Chinatown and Koreatown exist? Why do Latinos prefer to live in an all-Latin neighborhood? Black people aren't the only ones who prefer their own space. The difference is in how it's seen. If a Latino or an Asian creates a space for their people only, it's "respect their culture". If a Black man says he doesn't want Asian-owned liquor stores in his neighborhood, then we're seen as anti-Asian. Since they are so good at "integrating" why don't they open their businesses in White neighborhoods? Oh, I know why, because white folks DON'T WANT THEM THERE. So you push other folks into our neighborhoods so they can make money off of us, then they can go and spend that money they earned from us on YOU? And to add insult to injury, you have white folks moving into black neighborhoods and gentrifying them so the property values become unaffordable to the locals, basically kicking you out of your own home.

And by the way, Black folks should NEVER "integrate" with your kind, you folks are the most evil creatures known to mankind. Integration with the white man basically equals selling your soul to the devil. We fight our own fight, you stay out of our business.

Ask any white kid in my graduating class and they will tell you they like going out to Chinese and Mexican restaurants. It’s like a novelty.

But besides that you just sound like a very hate filled person. I mean the year is 2023.

Most white people aren’t even trying to stand in your way. We’re just trying to live our lives the same way you’re trying to live yours. And if living in a white majority country really does create such a big problem for you, than there certainly are plenty of black majority countries for you to move to.

Learn to see the bigger picture, Black people didn't lynch and terrorize other Blacks, white people did. Black people didn't create the discriminatory loan lending practices in banks, white people did. Black people didn't deny teaching Black history in schools white people did. This whole "what about other Black people" excuse doesn't mean anything because no other race uses that excuse when it's time to do something tangible. You think other folks don't have internal problems? You think the Japanese that fought against the interment camps didn't have internal issues? You think the Jews that fought against the Holocaust didn't have internal problems? You think the Chicanos didn't have internal problems? They all did, but guess what? They were able to put that aside to work together against a bigger problem. I encourage Black people to wake up and think as a unit, rather than a bunch "individuals" with that negropean multicultural madness and start acting on Black self-interest first.
