My question is inspired by the last of us.
Before I finish the video- just thinking about it, and I do say- I don’t think a bomb would destroy harmful chemicals or bacteria. By means of radiation maybe, but the radiation being stronger than the disease would do more harm than good.
It (the aftermath of the bomb) would be worse than the disease, when it was there in that city.
Bombs explode so like us sneezing, and us expelling bacteria out from our systems- a more ‘centered’ expulsion of heat and.. I don't know, gunpowder? Would only expand the area covered by the pathogens, or in this case, the “disease.”
The chemicals/disease would just be spread instead of contained in a smaller area. The people would have to be removed SURELY before the city was bombed as well, and those people treated… but the destruction of the city doesn’t make any sense. Destroying resources and all.
The bomb method doesn’t work for the reason of it spreading the contamination/contaminants.
A radioactive bomb would also worsen the matter. The only way to treat a destructive disease is to combat it by reversal, and alleviation of its strains on its victims.
That comes by chemicals that reverse the process/processes of the disease, and neutralizes whatever negative chemical/bacteria was responsible for the injuries/sickness of the people in that region/city.I’ll watch the video now, and then answer again.

Also I would assume the disease and any diseases now in current times are man influenced. All the natural diseases of the world have already taken place before our industrialization and interference with chemicals and the burning of fossil fuels, and such.
This only means we wouldn’t even have to bomb a city, if the city was more careful/cautious with their materials and operations.
Okay so halfway through the video and it’s clear to me this is not something that destroys the human body, but a disease- a bacteria that needs a “host” to live or so.
Like rabies. The disease has those people as a host and impairs their brains so that those people wish to bite other people for whatever reason. Vaccines would be needed to kill off the deadly
Bacteria in their brain or immune system, or both, so that they will not essentially infect other humans.
It seems they only targeted humans.
Since the police had no better way, they shot and executed the workers who were behaving erratically.
He asked the lady for a vaccine, which would be the better solution to the problem.
Okay so end of the video and I think they’re stupid lmao it’s for dramatic purposes. There is always a way to “reverse the curse.”
She probably didn’t want to admit she didn’t have a way to find a vaccine or so.
Also not everyone was infected, so it’s assumed they could evacuate anyone who was not bit or infected, but I don't know they just wanted to “bomb the city.” So maybe that implies bomb *everyoneee.*
I wouldn’t. I’d try to hold off, and never let a situation like that happen anyways. This is a fictional drama, so the way they solve issues would not always be accurate or effective, nor humane/ethical.
This bomb idea was spun by the director lol or story writer. I just wouldn’t. If circumstances demanded I bombed the city, I’d try to evacuate all healthy people, and execute those unfortunately infected.

The fungi ended up destroying the world in the show/game because of the people who got away and it got into the flour.
- +1 y
Fungi in dry flour? 🤔 so this is some sort of airborne disease that impairs victims’ minds 🤔
They’d need masks ofc to stop the spread, and treat the fungi as all fungi is treated, and probably aiding those not infected with weapons to execute those who try to attack them. Essentially all would have to be evacuated to narrow down those who were 100% infected.
Problem solved 💯 at least in my book lol - +1 y
Well it’s just a hypothetical situation. But yes 5 people infected turns into 10 then and then it just multiplies. So you could not take the chance of evacuating healthy people. You’d have to kill everyone.
- +1 y
The expert in the show said there is no cure or vaccine. And you’re bombing the infected not just the fungi.
- +1 y
The fungi infected an ‘original set’ those exposed and closest to the source of the outbreak, then those infected moved and bit people.
Lock down the city/ quarantine/ mandatory curfew, and those out of their minds on the streets would be left to capture and try to heal, or execute. If people can sift for gold, lives can be sifted through, and spared.
A bomb seems like a hammer to a needle in a haystack or something other like this. It’s just messy… it doesn’t have to be the final answer, but that’s just how I am, at least. Try to hold off the bomb as long as possible, while simultaneously attacking the threat as swiftly as possible. - +1 y
The issue is that people can escape the quarantine. And even one person can infect the whole world.
- +1 y
Well ofc it’s not real lol but given the circumstances would you bomb a city to save the world?

Only as a very very last resort if trying to close it or block it dose to happen
If there is a chance to save them should try, if there is a chance to at least notrlize the enfection should try
The momment you jump to destory first, the presedent is then there to keep doing it
You should try every option you can that is not so bad first
Even more if someone in there may still be alive016 Reply- +1 y
Did u watch the clip
- +1 y
Did not then, I did play the game
And honestly.. its big drama, you can close the area and deal with it, they go after sound, you just put up speakers a machine gun, warn people with brains to remain home, clear them out, account for every person, close the area, take everyone out of it, and wait, then after a short while do swipe and clean
Austria is now clearing out there rats, if that works out, this can work - +1 y
Well at the time they didn’t know what it was. And what if someone is infected and they escape the quarantine zone?
- +1 y
Nope. If you bomb a city you don’t have to encircle it.
Encircling takes time and logistics. Which is more time to allow infected to escape. And only 1infected person who escapes is enough to doom the world. - +1 y
That’s why the lady was like “bomb the city”
- +1 y
Well nothing in this question is real lol. It’s just a hypothetical situation and I gave the clip as context.
- +1 y
Seen your update now, well then that is silly thing to ask, I mean you don't give an option, in this case obviously you bomb the city, and any city near it, and to be safe you also nuke it, and drown it with coke
But seriously, if you go A or B no more logical and realistic options then you bomb it, you got to the last resort - +1 y
Well in the show and game the whole world went to shit right? That’s the whole point of the dramatization because the viewer knows how things end up. And this clip gives insight on how an expert knew there was no hope for humanity after discovering this.
- +1 y
well ultimately you can try to think of these scenarios and imagine it working in your favor but in this case you have two situations to choose from.
- +1 y
"the fun" is making a tough a choice that is hard to make but necessary. so yes its a trolly problem.
- +1 y
i mean i dont think there's anything simple about making that choice. the choices are simple but the decision making is not.

+1 yIt was the same question asked in "Watchmen". It is a hard call. But it is a choice, I could not make. I would have to go down trying to save the world without sacrificing anyone.

Did u watch the clip tho? It ended up happening anyways.
- +1 y
I watched the episode.
- +1 y
So you know that they started bombing cities anyways to contain the infected.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yAlmost certainly would not work. By the time you know there is an outbreak in a city the outbreak is almost certantly no longer confined to said city.
08 Reply- +1 y
did u watch the video or no?
Opinion Owner+1 y@chefpapichulo Yes, In that situation too, if they knew where everyone infected was they would have rounded them up.
The trouble is they didn't know and as such said people may easily have already left the city. Not that bombing a city would kill them even if they had remained. Even a nuclear weapon would not kill everyone.
You still have to know where they are.
- +1 y
thats the point. they dont know where they are. thats why bombing is suggested.
Opinion Owner+1 y@chefpapichulo
Bombing requires you know the people you want to kill are in the area to be bombed.
They already don't know that particularly if the setting is modern.
A person could travel 60+ miles in a hour, and they don't even know when or where it started. So the infected could literally be anywhere and everywhere. As such there are no bombs on this planet that could be deployed that would be effective.
In their case operating on the assumption it is transmitted by bite, they have a very controllable outbreak like Rabies (also so transmitted by bite). So such an non-targeted approach would be madness.
Quarantine work only by helping to slow down the spread of an outbreak long enough to identify and isolate the infected. Usually this requires they show symptoms.- +1 y
you do understand that in the show society collapses right?
- +1 y
The only way to move is to treat everyone like they are infected until the incubation period has passed and they show no symptoms.
Opinion Owner+1 y@virtue2332 This is of course logically true, which is the reason why you cannot simply bomb them as the video and @chefpapichulo suggested. As that would be bombing everyone. What the point of curing a diseases if there is no one to survive it.
- +1 y
you can't cure the disease. i dont understand why you dont just watch the video.

Absolutely. Depends largely on the disease though.

Well yeah. Bomb a whole city to possibly save the world or the whole world gets infected.

Yeah
I would not, the world will be fine, even if the people end up extinct.
