Russia's economy is far from broken... The west's sanctions had a short-term impact but have since been largely ineffectual. As one prominent example, Russian gas is now sold to other countries such as India, and then resold to Europe, thereby stretching out the overall supply flow, costing more for Europe, and Russia is doing fine as Europe continues to run on Russian oil and pay extra for it. Russia, a long time rival to China, is also now thoroughly aligned with China and both enjoy better trade relations than they've ever had, thereby breaking the triangular power rivalry between the US, China and Russia. This is what happens when the West is led by feckless, self-righteous idiots more concerned with their own image than living in reality.
