Are male managers are overreacting by refusing to be alone with a women in the workplace because if they do nothing wrong they have nothing to fear?

No, of course they are not overreacting. They have no idea who you are, whom you will be in 10-30 years, or what kind of new effective ex-post facto standards of innocent they will have to prove at said time.
There is a reason ex-post facto laws were banned in the U. S. Constitution,. The effective repeal of that limit by Federal courts and social media in the interest of "protecting women" means nobody can be safe around any woman.
The minimum men can do to protect themselfs is require a witness who might hopefully help prove his innocent if she should ever decide to make such a claim 10-20 years from now and there be no other evidence still available.
False allegations are very serious and can destroy your career, marraige, family and life.
False allegations are the go to of any cruel narcastic woman. Cameras should be installed in offices to discourage women making False allegations.

well the title does say "Sexual Harassment is No Joke" and managers are simply honoring that title. if it's not to treated as a joke if it's the truth, it's shouldn't be treated as a joke if it's a lie either but unfortunately it's mostly been a one way street and only high level celebrities like Johnny Depp, Donald Trump, Brett Kavanagh plus pro-athletes and rappers have the money to save themselves from false accusations. the average man simply does not get this luxury and faces a lifetime of character assassinations, character defamation and a whole host of negative character reputation that can ruin his life.
No, I don't think they are, especially in today's world and if they're in an environment where they'd likely be working with underage girls, as with, for example, retail, fast food, or a restaurant.
You might think they have nothing to worry about, but people do make false accusations. A false accusation can result in an innocent man getting fired, getting disciplined, having his career stalled or ended, or making him feel compelled to resign. And worst of all, it can tarnish a man's good name and reputation.
There's an entire social movement dedicated to recreating Emmett Till's death (in a less direct sense, since they lack the cowardice to kill outright) and companies are punishing men based entirely on unsubstantiated accusations with no evidence.
You have EVERYTHING to fear; in fact, you're probably MORE likely to be a victim if you didn't do anything wrong, since you won't be seen as enough of a threat to retaliate.
I know at least three men who basically had their lives ruined by false accusations of sexual harassment, even with video evidence disproving the accuser's claims. For that reason, I don't really blame people for taking what would otherwise be considered extreme measures to protect themselves.
Hell no they aren't wrong. Look at that ding dong bitch that said Trump tried to strangle a secret service agent. She wasn't there, but her testimony was used in the hearing. So the Dems put a hearsay witness on the stand. She could have said it was you that tried to strangle the same agent. VP Mike Pence never met with women without a witness.
No, I don't think that they are.
For that to be true it would also necessarily have to be true that there are no women in the workplace who would tell lies for money which is quite obviously ridiculous.
But we already have a perfecting functioning phrase to cover such eventualities; It's not personal, it's just business.
OMFG no! No man should ever be alone with a female in the workplace. Men should condition women in the workplace to only communicate with them via email, so there is documentation.
A stray word from a woman to HR can destroy a man's life.
Nope, not overreacting. It's just self-preservation and a wise choice given the current environment. My mother is VP of human resources for a medium sized employer and she has shared too many stories of men who were unjustly terminated when they were accused of something by dishonest and vindictive women.
They do have a lot to fear like false accusations ruining their lives and possibly their freedom.
Considering how irrational many women are and how prone they are to make false accusations for which they are never punished, smart men, especially manager and others will much to loose are wise to avoid being alone with a woman in the workplace.
No, they are not. And in my opinion it's generally a good idea that there are always at least 3 people working together instead of 2.
False allegations is just as bad if not worse. I hate that stupid phrase "if they do nothing wrong they have nothing to fear" because those who thirst for power will abuse it on innocent people if they feel like they should.
No, there have been plenty of instances of false accusations to warrant a cautious approach to women in general. Let alone the workplace. Nevermind the idea of not letting yourself be tempted by a situation.
Well. If someone wants to make something into something it’s not. Ir shows who has a dirty mind
But they do have something to fear, vindictive bitches who want to use metoo to falsey get the manager in trouble
Lol, good fascist statement there. They’re in the right.
You're acting like false accusations don't exist and don't carry very severe consequences.
this is a really interesting question
