How do you know that homosexuality or trannyism isn't a mental illness just as pederasty or pedophilia are?

According to the study in the picture related, roughly 46% of homosexual men and 22% of lesbians (compared to 7% of hetero sexual males and 1% of heterosexual females) were reported to have experienced childhood sexual abuse by an adult of the same-sex as them. Not everyone who has been abused by a pederast will initially admit to people about it, I suspect most who have been are silent about it. I personally don't believe that people are naturally born gay or trans anymore than someone is born a pederast or a butterfly kisser, there's no evidence in either lgbt people or butterfly kissers or pederasts brain that sets them apart from any other person's who are heterosexual or not trans.

In the pre christian ancient world, excluding Israel or the aztec empire, homosexuality and pederasty and butterfly kissers were all seen as socially accepted practices, even if they knew it was harmful to children which they likely never cared about, it only became socially abhorrent because the early church which has laws against pederasty and homosexuality in the didache, infact the modern world can be argued that pederasty and butterfly kissing are still illegal and socially unacceptable because of the early Christian cultural influence of the Roman empires post paganism.

Even in many non Christian societies like in most of the middle east and Asia homosexuality is seen as disgusting as pederasty and butterfly kissing.

If you call someone a closet homosexual for being disgusted with it, I can promise you the same can be said for pedophobes as well, after all a chomo is just a homo with a "c" in the front.

I know I might get hate on my opinion. I don't believe any kind of sexual attraction should be considered a mental illness.

In my head, mental illness and mental disorders run along the same track. I believe they both stem from issues with the brain not functioning properly. The only difference being that a disorder can be medically treated while an illness doesn't usually respond to medical treatment. For example, ADHD is a disorder but with proper medication it can be treated and many people sing praises of medical intervention. Something like borderline personality disorder is more of an illness, in many cases medication does not help or fix the issues.

When it comes to sexual identity or attraction, those things are extremely fluid throughout life. You'll see lots of people who might be attracted to one gender for a period of time but then later decide they are actually more attracted to a different gender. People who question their identity often times are really just trying to express themselves for who they are but they feel too much pressure from society to conform to a specific role. So a lot of people who are transgender will flip between masculine and feminine because those are the roles society gives us. If society offered more flexibility in roles, I don't think as many people would feel it necessary to alter their bodies because they'd be comfortable expressing themselves as they are.

The same logic (in my head) applies to people who are sexually attracted to someone or something that doesn't fit social standards. Only, in these cases I would add that the reason they have those attractions are usually because of either trauma during childhood or stunted mental growth. I wouldn't classify it as a mental illness because it's not something that happens due to a brain malfunction, rather, its something that happens due to a social development issue. Something that went wrong during the adolescent growth which triggered those feelings to stray outside of the social norm.

That being said, it's actually relatively easy to train the brain into becoming sexually attracted to literally anything. It's much harder though to break those patterns. The brain functions on patterns. So for people who might be sexually attracted to children, animals, objects, cartoons, etc. It's probably because the brain has recognized a pattern between the time of seeing those things and feeling sexual urges. Then it continuously connects the two things and BAM! You all of a sudden have sexual attraction towards said thing. Therefore, the brain is actually functioning properly, it's just that social experiences have trained the brain to respond differently to those things than it normally would. So it shouldn't be considered a mental illness but it should definitely be something that's taken seriously and one should seek serious help to correct.

The reason that pedophilia is considered a disorder is because it causes harm to someone else. It’s more than just sexual preference. Normal sexuality does not encompass harm. Homosexuals and transsexuals are harming no one with their consensual relationships. People who try to equate it with pedophilia are just trying to justify their own hate. Sexuality is like a spectrum. There are a whole host of deviant practices from the supposed “norm”, even among heterosexuals. Is everyone who doesn’t fit neatly into a cookie cutter box disordered? Of course not. If the activity is consensual and no one is harmed, then where is the disorder? It only exists within the closed minds of those not involved.
